Put another notch on the draft pick totem pole, the Steelers secure another today as T Kelvin Beachum signs his 4 yr. deal with the team. Beachum was the Steelers final draft choice, 7B, of their compensatory picks given to them by the NFL. Ed Bouchette broke the news via twitter on Thursday evening: #steelers reel in another 7th rounder, G Kelvin Beachum. Only 2 draft picks unsigned of 9 As Ed mentioned, there are only 2 remaining picks to be signed of the draft class for this year. 3rd rounder Sean Spence, LB out of Miami and 1st round guard David DeCastro. Beachum, 6’3″ 303 lbs will compete with a host of offensive lineman on the Steelers roster for what is likely to be 9 roster spots, possibly 10. He started at LT in all 52 games he played in at SMU, also was added to the Lombardi Award and Outland Trophy Award watch lists. The big lineman is also a high character type of player, something the Steelers always love to have on their team. According to Steelers.com:  Beachum also h...

Hoke Says It Could Take A Year Or Two For Ta’amu To Play In Steelers Scheme

Chris Hoke may have retired this offseason, but he stays active in the media and he joined 93.7 The Fan Thursday morning for an interview. Hoke, who backed up Casey Hampton at nose tackle for  the Pittsburgh Steelers for over a decade, was asked about fourth round draft pick Alameda Ta'amu. Hoke said, "I tell you what, he's going to be a good football player, I don...

Pittsburgh Steelers: Projected 2012 Starting Lineups

Overall I am projecting six new starters for the Steelers next season. The offensive line was probably the toughest group to predict due to the uncertainty surrounding just about every spot but center Maurkice Puncey's. Apart from the offensive line, the main changes in the Steelers lineups will be the absences of Aaron Smith, James Farrior, and Hines Ward, who were all released...

Big Ben believes 49ers targeted him

Ben Roethlisberger said he "felt like there were some things going on, some extra” targeting of his bum ankle when the Steelers played the 49ers last season.

As Roethlisberger goes so do the Steelers

Ben Roethlisberger is the starting quarterback of a team that is known for stellar, top notch defense. With names such as Jack Lambert, Joe Greene, Franco Harris, James Harrison, Troy Polamalu the Steelers legacy has always been on the defensive side of the ball. Big Ben has changed this thinking because no one in the NFL, not named Peyton, is as crucial to his team's success...

Ben Roethlisberger “Confused” About Impending Changes On Offense

While many people have tried to create the thought that there is an issue between Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and new Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley, Big Ben has adamantly implored that is not the case. He is simply “confused” about what’s going to happen with his offense as Haley implements his new system. The general consensus coming into this season was that...

Steelers sign two 7th-round picks

Tight end David Paulson and cornerback Terrence Frederick agreed to four-year deals with the Steelers. Both were seventh-round picks in the 2012 NFL Draft. Paulson caught 67 career passes at Oregon, while Frederick started 45 of 50 career games for Texas A&M, finishing with 205 tackles and six sacks.

Steelers players reaction to Todd Haley’s playbook shows how weak Arians playbook was

Todd Haley has handed out the Steelers new playbook.  From the reaction of the players it is nothing like the playbook Bruce Arians has put out in the past.  Ben Roethlisberger compared it to learning “Rosetta Stone”.  That is expected when a new coordinator comes in.  You get his playbook rather than the one you were using. There were two comments though that stood out...

Pittsburgh Steelers: 2012 Schedule Breakdown

Hard as it is to believe, there was a time within recent memory when the Pittsburgh Steelers were not top TV billing for the NFL. Until the recent advent of Thursday Night Football on NFL Network and Sunday Night Football on NBC, the true measure of a team’s allure could be measured by appearances on Monday Night Football. In the first eight seasons of Bill Cowher’s successful...

Ben Roethlisberger talks about his ankle, offseason so far in 2012

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was on the Dan Patrick show, talking about several topics going on this offseason with him and the team. Here are some highlights and you can listen to the full 9 minute interview here if you like. On the topic of his degree: It was very important. He made promise to himself and parents to get it done and is very proud of it. His degree will be coming...

Steelers sign 2nd round OT Mike Adams

According to ProFootballTalk.com, the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed second round pick and former Ohio State offensive tackle Mike Adams. Despite some off the field concerns, Adams should be able to come in right away and help solidify one of the NFL’s worst offensive lines.
