For his transgressions this offseason, Kenny Britt will not be with the Titans for the regular season opener.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the NFL has suspended Britt one game for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. The troubled receiver was arrested in July for driving under the influence, the latest in a long line of slip-ups for the former first-round pick.
All things considered, this may turn out to be a blessing in disguise for Britt, who’s returning from his third knee surgery and didn’t figure to have a major role in Week 1, anyway. Considering his past, he’s lucky not to have been subjected to a multi-game ban.
Rookie Kendall Wright is expected to start in Britt’s place against the Patriots.
