Courtesy of Zimbio San Francisco -3.5 at St. Louis When the NFL was drafting the 2013 schedule, this game probably seemed like an easy choice for the Thursday Night Footall spotlight; two teams with stock on the rise led by young quarterbacks with arguably elite potential. Instead this game will feature a couple of 1-3 teams coming off of blowout losses. To put last week into perspective, the 49ers and Rams did not score more points combined than Jacksonville did at Seattle; Jacksonville would have won 17-14. While I did not expect much from Sam Bradford at the beginning of the season, I made Kaepernick my target quarterback for almost every fantasy league. After an amazing Week 1, he has completely fizzled out the last couple of weeks, costing me (as well as thousands of others) two consecutive losses. How can you win if your quarterback gets less than eight points a game? This is the same dilemma that San Fran will need to figure out. After a 412 yard three touchdown performance to open the season against the Packers, Kaepernick has thrown for just 277 yards and zero touchdowns in the two games after. This performance has caused the 49ers to lose those games by a combined score of 10-56. Kaepernick can only be given fair blame for the ten points on offense, the 56 points given up on defense is an entirely different matter. Last season the San Fran defense seemed almost invincible. After not allowing a rushing touchdown in 2012 until late December, the now porous 49ers defense gave up two more rushing touchdowns to Lynch in Week 2, and an opening drive rushing touchdown to the Colts last week. An argument can be made that the defense has been unable to produce because of the poor play of the offense, but even when the offense looked good in Week 1 the defense still gave up 28 points to the Packers, as well as an opening drive touchdown to the Colts. Over three weeks the San Francisco defense has given up 84 points to very quality teams. The Rams are more than likely the worst team that San Fran has faced so far this season, but with all of the injuries piling up, this game may not be any easier. Aldon Smith is in rehab, Patrick Willis has a groin issue, Vernon Davis probably won’t play because of an injured hamstring, and Crabtree will not be back anytime soon. On a short week after a blowout loss, both sides of the San Fran ball are likely to struggle. Luckily for the 49ers, the Rams have not looked great this season either. After a similar close Week 1 victory, the Rams have been blown out on consecutive weeks. The Week 2 loss to the Falcons was not as close as the score indicates (Atlanta went up 21-0 and was up 31-17 with six minutes to go in the fourth quarter), and analysts are still trying to explain last week’s 31-7 route against the Cowboys. Daryl Richardson is questionable with a foot injury, and the Rams have made it a habit of falling behind early. They do however have Cortland Finnegan and Janoris Jenkins. If anyone has ever watched Cortland Finnegan play, it should not be surprising that Jeff Fischer made him a top priority as the cornerstone of his secondary. Finnegan is fast, physical, and gets under every wide receivers skin like he is their older brother. Jenkins is coming off a great rookie season and went to Alabama; enough said. These two should be able to lock up Bolden, who is really the only receiving threat that San Francisco has left. The scary part about betting against San Francisco is how good they played in 2012, but until they show they can live up to the hype, I will have to take the points. I really hate this game and I would not feel comfortable betting either way, but since there are no alternatives on Thursday night, I will take the Rams to win. GIF: Bradford gives puzzled reaction to Rams' playbook

Judging by the puzzled look on Sam Bradford's face, someone might need to get him a translator to read the Rams' playbook.

Sam Bradford Left Shaking His Head, Utterly Confused During 49ers’ Demolition of Rams (GIF)

Not many people are sure what’s up with Sam Bradford or the St. Louis Rams. From the looks of things on Thursday night, Bradford is not sure, either. The Rams signal caller was literally left shaking his head as the San Francisco 49ers torched the Rams 35-11 in the opening game of Week 4, and not even the provision of a notebook full of printouts could help Bradford deduce what...

Sam Bradford Bewilderment Of The 49ers Defense Summed Up In This Terrific GIF

St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford had a disappointing night against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football losing 35-11. Bradford struggled against the 49ers defense completing only 19 of 41 passes, fumbling the ball and was sacked five times for a loss of 32 yards. In the second quarter Bradford was on the sidelines attempting to solve the riddle that is the 49ers...

Is Sam Bradford a bust in his 4th year?

By Shaun DePasquale (@ShaunDoesDraft) Few could have imagined back in 2010, when Sam Bradford was the apple of the NFL’s eye, that three years later, we would be looking at the Rams QB and the #1 pick of the 2010 NFL Draft as an unmitigated bust. But after the Rams 35-11 clunker of a loss […]

Sam Bradford extension talks would be welcomed by the Rams

Sam Bradford is a decent NFL starter but hasn’t lived up the contract of a former first overall pick (pre-rookie cap), so it’s no surprise that Bradford would rather wait a year or two before discussing a new deal, however the Rams front office appears confident enough in Bradford that they apparently won’t be looking to go another direction and wouldn’t be opposed to talks...

Report: Rams Willing To Lock Up QB Sam Bradford Now

Ian Rapoport and Mike Silver are reports that the St. Louis Rams are willing to sign QB Sam Bradford to a contract extension right now. Rapoport mentions that the Rams view Bradford as their franchise quarterback, but he is apparently in “no rush” to renegotiate his current deal. Rapoport adds that Bradford may hold off on contract talks until 2015, depending on how he performs...

Report: Rams Willing To Give Sam Bradford Huge Extension

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Don’t believe, ask the St. Louis Rams. While experts and pundits are bashing and criticizing Sam Bradford on a daily basis, NFL Network’s Mike Silver and Ian Rapoport are reporting that the Rams think Bradford is a franchise quarterback, and would love to get an extension done.   So it sounds like Bradford, for as bad as he’s been, holds...

After getting pounded by San Francisco, maybe Rams quarterback Sam Bradford should ‘rush’ to renegotiate

Sam Bradford and the Rams looked atrocious in a 35-11 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night in St. Louis. Getting picked in the 49ers’ end zone minutes before halftime, the 25-year-old Bradford finished 19 for 41 with a touchdown. Prior to the drubbing, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said that St. Louis is “willing to re-do Sam Bradford’s contract now.” Taken first...

Rams mojo disappears, glaring problems do not in a loss to 49ers

Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Fans Voices program. I've been given a device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the service. [Details] Say this for Sam Bradford, he was the Rams offense tonight. Say this too: the Rams offense was not at all good tonight. On a night just five days removed from a brutal thrashing at the hands...

Running into trouble: The Rams need backfield help, fast

ST LOUIS --The Rams fans who decided to show up to the Edward Jones Dome on Thursday conveyed their feelings loud and clear before they gave up and trudged toward the exits with more than 10 minutes left in quarter four. Had the place been full instead of the generously announced crowd of 56,640, the boos would have been much louder. There sure was plenty to boo about. Sam Bradford...

McNeal: The Rams have plenty to figure out before they truly can move forward

ST. LOUIS -- The Rams have not proven to be that adept at playing football this month but they appear to be very proficient at forgetting about it. At least when it comes to Sunday's 31-7 humiliating loss to the Cowboys. While Rams fans still are recovering from their team's total breakdown that wasn't supposed to happen with Jeff Fisher as coach, Rams players have moved...

49ers-Rams TNF Live Blog, Second Half

For most of the first half, this looked to be a game that gibed for the Rams which is another way of saying a low-scoring game. St. Louis isn’t going to keep up with any team that score more than 30 unless you spot them defense and special teams scores, so the early plodding place was just about their speed. The Rams started things off with a first down and a punt. The Niners responded...
