From Ravens Insider:
Ravens punter Sam Koch signed a five-year contract on Tuesday.
With kicker Billy Cundiff getting locked up last week, the Ravens have secured two of the NFL’s top specialists.
Koch, 28, was scheduled to be a free agent. Since entering the NFL in 2006, Koch’s 149 kicks inside the 20-yard line rank second in the NFL.
“I can tell you that Sam is very pleased with the contract and he is excited to be staying home in Baltimore for at least another five years,” said Steve Mudder, Koch’s agent. “Sam is a Raven to his core, and this long term deal is what he has wanted ever since his rookie contract expired after the 2008 season.”
The Ravens later confirmed the deal with Koch.
Last season, Koch averaged 43.6 yards and placed a career-best 39 punts inside the 20 (which was second in the NFL in 2010).
Koch ranks first in Ravens history in career gross average (43.7), net average (38.1) and punts inside the 20-yard line (149).
Koch had another splendid season with the Ravens and I’m glad that he’ll be here for a long time.
