PLAYERS: Kurt Warner
TEAMS: St. Louis Rams
Kurt Warner‘s rags-to-riches tale is the kind of story even Horatio Alger could never dream up — probably because professional football didn’t exist until seven years before Alger died in 1899 — and now it may get its due on the silver screen. FOX and Temple Hill have acquired the rights to develop a motion picture based on Warner’s life, according to Deadline.com. Part of that package includes the right to use Warner’s autobiography, All Things Possible: My Story Of Faith, Football And The Miracle Season, as source material. “For so long people have told me my life story would make a great movie,” said Warner. “I am humbled and thrilled to have found a team as excited as I am to make that happen.” Warner famously went from working at a grocery story to two-time NFL MVP, with a stop in the Arena Football League in between. A spider bite even cancelled a tryout with the Chicago Bears at one point. “I’ve been chasing Kurt’s story for three years … or, in many ways, ever since I first

Fox Making Movie Based on Kurt Warner’s Life

20th Century Fox has acquired the life rights to develop a feature based on the life of Kurt Warner. Warner famously went from stocking groceries in Iowa to winning 2 MVPs and a Super Bowl with the St Louis Rams. “For so long people have told me my life story would make a great movie. I am humbled and thrilled to have found a team as excited as I am to make that happen.” ...

Rams defenders expect great things of themselves this year

ST. LOUIS -- Maybe they were tired of being overlooked. Since the start of training camp, the St. Louis Rams defense has heard the crowd gathered at Rams Park ooh and aah every time quarterback Sam Bradford finds a receiver. Meanwhile, as it goes in training camp, the men on the other side of the ball have found limited chances to do what they do best -- hit. But it's clear...

Why Rookie Tavon Austin Will Be a PPR Monster Immediately

"There is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right direction." Winston Churchill said that. The change for the St. Louis Rams began in the offseason when they jettisoned receiver Danny Amendola and long-time franchise running back Steven Jackson. The first step in the right direction was hiring ex-Titan Jeff Fisher as head coach, and the second was moving up eight...

Rams C Scott Wells looking to bounce back from injury marred 2012 season

St. Louis badly needs a healthy Scott Wells to anchor their offensive line after an injury plagued 2012 season. Scott was a free agent acquisition in 2011 and was added to solidify the team’s offensive line. He signed a four-year, $24-million contract after playing 8 years for the Green Bay Packers. The experience of playing in the sophisticated Packers offense was to transfer...

Rams players must always be ready for 'Smack Cam'

ST. LOUIS -- The Rams are mixing modern social media with the oldest joke in the book. Some might call it a 'pie in the face' but certain members of the St. Louis defense prefer 'Smack Cam.' The rules seem simple enough. First, find a target. Next, drill them in the face with a plate full of whipped cream. Cornerback Trumaine Johnson has developed a series of smack...

Entering sixth season, DE Long is ready to lead Rams

ST. LOUIS (AP) Minus the two-a-days, the IV drips, the soft tissue muscle pulls and the fatigue, Chris Long has actually become a fan of training camp. The leader of the St. Louis Rams' pass rush, and their seniority leader heading into his sixth season, does not miss the summer grind that was eliminated with the new collective bargaining agreement. The defensive end relishes...

Rams' Witherspoon offers wealth of NFL knowledge to young teammates

ST. LOUIS -- Will Witherspoon remembers. He was 22, a Carolina Panthers third-round draft pick out of Georgia, a rookie linebacker still learning the ropes. Then, everything changed. "About midway through the season, Dan Morgan dislocated his shoulder," Witherspoon said Monday. "I remember Jack Del Rio in our Monday meeting saying, 'Hey Spoon, get ready to play...

St. Louis Rams: Why I am looking forward to the first pre-season game

(via TurnersTwist.com) In about 8 days (August 8th at 7PM CDT) the St. Louis Rams will begin their preseason schedule against the Cleveland Browns. There are people who do not like watching preseason games. I am not one of them. I enjoy the opportunity to see fourth and fifth string players get touches. I also use this time to scout out fantasy players for the upcoming year. Which...

Cortland Finnegan pranks Chris Long good

A shaving cream pie to the face is never not funny. Rams cornerback Cortland Finnegan pulled the age-old gag (known on social media these days as the “#SmackCam”) on teammate Chris Long on Thursday while Long was being interviewed live on NFL Network. Finnegan is one of the NFL’s great antagonists, but his targets are usually wide receivers (as Andre Johnson can attest),...

Well, duh: Of course Rams list Pettis as a starting WR

ST. LOUIS -- When Rams receiver Austin Pettis was called into the coach's office and informed he had made first team on the depth chart, he did not jump with joy, scream with delight or give Jeff Fisher a mighty hug. "I've been here the longest, know the system and had been working hard," Pettis says. As pleased as he was, he got it. He understood the promotion...

Rams' Saffold adjusting to life at right tackle

Rodger Saffold was the St. Louis Rams' left tackle his first three NFL seasons, wearing his boyhood idol Orlando Pace's No. 76 jersey and leading the protection for Sam Bradford. He's had several months to handle the reality that it is no longer his position. ''I mean, it's a business,'' Saffold said. ''I enjoy the left tackle position but...

Arizona Cardinals Fans and the Big AZ Beer Garden

The recent years have been frustrating ones for the fans of the Arizona Cardinals. After Kurt Warner retired it has been one frustrating season after another. Heck, it's darn near enough to drive a fan to drink, but as bad as the team has played that would have resulted in a lot of angry drunks. The product on the field appears to be changing though. With the arrival of new...
