Washington Redskins strong safety LaRon Landry missed practice on Wednesday because of a sore left Achilles’ tendon. It’s the same Achilles that forced Landry to miss the final seven weeks of last season and kept him from earning his first trip to the Pro Bowl.
Asked when Landry suffered the setback, coach Mike Shanahan said, “It was sore today, so we kept him out [of practice]. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow.”

Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said he was pleased with the play of rookie Roy Helu in Helu’s first professional start, but the coach declined to say whether the Nebraska product would start next week against Miami.

In Monday's Washington Post there was a wonderful picture - if "wonderful" is the appropriate word - of the sack Redskins rookie linebacker Ryan Kerrigan had on quarterback Alex Smith in the first quarter of the Niners' 19-11 win.
In the photo, Kerrigan's helmet is seemingly imbedded in the...
ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- The Washington Redskins have signed receiver David Anderson and released receiver Donte' Stallworth.
Anthony Armstrong became a Miami Dolphins sensation during OTAs of 2009.
The former Arena League standout, who had just spent the past season on the Dolphins’ practice squad, was unstoppable on offense when the team wasn’t wearing pads.
The Texas speedster could get behind any defensive back with ease, and if the ball was put on the money Armstrong typically delivered a big...
Washington Redskins right tackle Jammal Brown is unlikely to play against the Miami Dolphins this weekend because of a strained left groin, coach Mike Shanahan said. Brown, who did not practice Thursday, sat out the second half against San Francisco last week. Backup Sean Locklear replaced him against the 49ers ...
OK, this couldn't possibly have been Washington's game-plan against the Niners: Roy Helu saw as many pass targets on Sunday (17) as all of the Redskins' wide receivers combined (Gaffney 5, Hankerson 5, Austin 5, Armstrong 1, Paul 1).
Washington quarterback John Beck seemed to be acutely aware — perhaps too aware — of the prior week's sack total. Beck was dropped...
