Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals is many things. A Leader, an Elite Wideout, and….. an Astronaut? Well, maybe not an Astronaut quite yet, but he has plans of going into orbit one day. The Cardinals star receiver was quoted by the Team’s Official Website saying that he has plans to travel outside of this world one day – just not now, because the price is too high. “I try to make decisions .. within my means,” Fitzgerald said “I want to go into orbit. But it costs a million dollars right now and that’s out of my budget. In a couple of years, when that (price) comes on down a little bit, I will do that and try it out, but right now, it’s on my bucket list. It’s just not feasible right now.”   AP Photo C’mon Larry, a cool million? If Adam Jones can spend a million in a weekend and have nothing to show for it, why can’t you to do something so astronomical? (literally!) It’s smart of Fitz not to, although he is paid as one of the best receivers in the game, signing an eight-year $120 Million dollar contract just last year. He’s one of the best in the game – on and off the field. His leadership and work ethic is amazing, and his smarts in and out of the game are the reason why he’s highly regarded around league circles. His leadership was shown yesterday as well, after he formally charged Rookie WR Michael Floyd with a DWI (Don’t want it!!) after Floyd missed three straight days of workouts with Fitzgerald.
Just finished a great workout with @Wellefast. I’m charging @MichaelMFloyd with a DWI “don’t want it” he missed a 3rd straight workout 2day. — Larry Fitzgerald (@LarryFitzgerald) July 9, 2012
After seeing the Tweet, Floyd showed up to workouts on Tuesday, and according to Fitz, was rather impressive.
Just finished another strong workout with @Wellefast. @MichaelMFloyd killed it 2day & led the group in all drills & squaded 400+. #beast — Larry Fitzgerald (@LarryFitzgerald) July 10, 2012
After the workouts Floyd said “That was my fault (not being here), just stuff with the whole situation,” he said. “But it’s great. I know he wants the best for me and every time I’m out here with him, I work hard.” Rumors leading up to the draft were that Fitz was lobbying the Cardinals front office to Draft Floyd to play opposite him, and they ended up doing just that. Both Receivers go into the season however not knowing who will be tossing them the ball. Coach Ken Wisenhunt has said that it’s an open competition between Kevin Kolb and John Skelton. Whichever QB gets the starting nod, both of these players will be there to help them. If Floyd matches the intensity and work ethic that Fitz has, his career has no boundaries. Fitz will continue to do what he does and remain one of the best in the game putting up impressive numbers year in and year out.   Follow us on Twitter @DownandDistance Sports-Kings Executive Editor – Justin Arbogast @NFLGuy_SK  The post Larry Fitzgerald wants to travel to space; Charges Rookie WR with DWI appeared first on DOWN & DISTANCE.
