Cowboys Gab:
Just before the 3p.m. Tuesday trade deadline, the Cowboys managed to pull off a trade for disgruntled Detroit WR Roy Williams.A Terms of the trade are still not clear, but ESPN and the Dallas Morning News are reporting that the deal included a first, third and sixth round draft pick next year and the Lions in return will also give the Cowboys a seventh-round pick of their own.A A Most sources agree that Dallas and owner Jerry Jones mainly wanted to acquire Williams, a former UT stand-out, as aA future replacement for Terrell Owens, who is entering his 13th season in the NFL.
Evidently, the deal took longer than anticipated due to the recent firing of Lions' GM Matt Millen or the trade may haveA happened earlier.
Now the Cowboys have twoA Roy Williams on the team and both could help the franchise get back to the Super Bowl, or at the very least win a playoff game.A A The most recent Roy Williams was born and raised in Texas, in fact the same town I was, Odessa, TX and played for the University of Texas.A He was drafted by the Lions in '04 in the first round with the seventh overall pick.A Williams has 17 catches for 232-yards and one touchdown this year with the Lions and his best season was in 2006 when he had over 1300-yards receiving and 7 TD's.
