Steelers Safety Ryan Clark, a man whom I do not know and therefore was unfortunately not able to slap this week. I’m just going to repeat the headline. The last time Pittsburgh Steelers Safety Ryan Clark played in Denver he lost his spleen, gallbladder and 30lbs. He could have lost his life. I swear I’m not making this up. Clark has sickle cell trait–which I also have–something that really doesn’t bother most people who don’t hurl themselves into other people at extremely high altitudes. Now here’s the part where I become a big old girl. All week I could not figure out why there was a discussion about whether or not Clark would play or not. Some things just don’t bear discussion. Given what happened last time he played in Denver it seemed obvious to me that he would not play. I realize players want to be tough, but I also realize there is a really thick bright red line between “tough” and “stupid” and the Steele...

Ryan Clark may not like missing the Steelers playoff game in Denver Sunday but it beats missing the rest of his life. Steelers Ryan Clark Should Not Play at Denver

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a playoff date with Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Safety Ryan Clark would figure to be a key component in stopping the highly-ranked running attack, including Tebow, of the home team. Clark's sickle cell scare an anomaly

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark won't be the only NFL player in Denver on Sunday who carries the sickle-cell trait. But he'll be the only one forced to wear street clothes because of it. Football could learn from Tomlin's choice

Ryan Clark believes the organs that could be affected were already removed after the last time, when they took his spleen and gallbladder, he lost 30 pounds and nearly died. And the Steelers had already devised a plan of in-game IVs and other measures to make sure...
