BALTIMORE - NOVEMBER 29: Lawrence Timmons #94 of the Pittsburgh Steelers walks off the field after warmups before the game against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on November 29, 2009 in Baltimore, Maryland. The Ravens defeated the Steelers 20-17. (Photo by Larry French/Getty Images)

Lawrence Timmons looks as if he is going to have a rough game Monday.  He could very well be playing 3 positions during the game against the 49ers.  There are a few factors that could go into this situation but it looks likely.  Timmons looks like he will be shoved into action wherever necessary at any point in time during the game.  It will all come as needed.

Timmons should start off at Middle Linebacker.  LaMarr Woodley is not on the injury report right now and is expected to start.  Jason Worilds has proven that he can start.  Timmons will be in his regular position to start the game.

It may not last long though.  James Harrison as of right now is suspended and probably will not be in the game.  Woodley and Worilds will start.  Woodley though has already said that he can not play a full game and does not plan on playing one the rest of the regular season.  He is going to be a “platoon” player.  Woodley only made it through 2 series in his last appearance.  I do not expect him to go much farther on monday night.

That would move Timmons back outside.  Larry Foote would replace Timmons in the middle but he has also been platooning with James Farrior.  These two are going to be playing much more then usual against the 49ers.  The defense could look like it looked when Harrison first went out with his eye injury.  It will all depend on how much Woodley can play.

Timmons had his worst statistical games on the outside but he held his own against each team while Harrison and Worilds were out with injury.  I would expect nothing less.  Even if you do not hear his name called as often as you do when he is in the middle Timmons will still be making an impact.

Add to that Timmons will most likely be shadowing Vernon Davis when he is at Middle Linebacker.  Timmons could have a rough night.  He is going to be worn out by games end.  Good thing he is in the shape that he is in.  There may not be another guy on this team who could do what Timmons is doing.  Playing 3 positions and never coming off the field.  This kid is proving his worth to this team.  His position flexibility gives the Steelers options even when they are down a player or two.
