CHARLOTTE, NC - DECEMBER 20: James Anderson #50 of the Carolina Panthers breaks up a reception by Chester Taylor #29 of the Minnesota Vikings at Bank of America Stadium on December 20, 2009 in Charlotte, North Carolina. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)
The most important aspect of the Panthers' inactive list this morning is who is not on it: starting strongside LB and leading tackler James Anderson. Anderson was questionable after rolling his ankle during Thursday's practice. He did not practice Friday, although coach Ron Rivera had predicted he would be fine. The Panthers have been without their other two starting LBs since the first two weeks of the season after Jon Beason and Thomas Davis went down. They could ill afford to have Anderson out, especially facing Tennessee RB Chris Johnson. Carolina's inactives are: QB Jimmy Clausen, CB Brandon Hogan, RB Mike Goodson, LB Jason Phillips, TE Richie Brockel, OT Lee Ziemba and DT Frank Kearse. Goodson (hamstring) and Phillips (calf) are hurt; Hogan was activated from the physically unable to perform list. Titans starting LB Barrett Ruud (groin) was the most signifcant player on Tennessee's inactive list. --Joseph Person
