Presence of Sherm Only Adds to Rep Last year the Seattle Seahawks sent three out of the four members of the “Legion of Boom” to the Pro Bowl proving to the league they had one of the up and coming secondary’s in the league. This year they have done one better adding the fourth and final member into an elite category. All Pro’s? At the mid way point of the season ESPN Insider John Clayton had Richard Sherman, the one member of the Seahawks Secondary not on the NFC Pro Bowl team last year, on his All-Pro team. Earl Thomas, who was the only Seahawk to be voted in as a Starter at the Pro Bowl last year joined Sherman on this list. We also shouldn’t look past the other two players Kam Chancellor and Brandon Browner who have also had solid years so far. Last Sunday’s Vikings game did two things for the Seahawks defensive rankings. Bumped their rushing defense out of the top 10 when Adrian Peterson ran all over the Seahawks highly ranked rushing attack, but it also jumped the pass defense into the top 10 when the Legion of Boom held Christian Ponder to 63 yards passing. One thing that has been consistent for the Seahawks defense this year has been their ability to shut down the oppositions leading receiver which is mostly a testament to Richard Sherman who has had the job of lining up against the top receiver. The Legion of Boom is quickly becoming the most feared secondary in NFL The Seahawks opposition only managed to have a receiver gain more than 100 yards twice this season. Once was Wes Welker who is not your typical deep threat receiver but relies more on yards after catch. Browner also put a hit on Welker during the game that will make him think twice about catching a football against this defense. The other was Titus Young who went for 100 yards while Sherman managed to hold Calvin Johnson to 46 yards on three catches during the game. Quarterbacks are averaging just over 223 yards against this Seahawks secondary since the season opening loss to the Cardinals in week one. In fact they have kept five quarter backs under that number this season including Aaron Rodgers, Sam Bradford, Cam Newton, Alex Smith and Ponder. Key Plays At Key Times Even when teams have found a way to move the ball through the air this elite secondary has found a way to make some key turnovers. The best example of this was in week six when Tom Brady and the Patriots were able to gain 395 yards through the air. However two interceptions made by non other then the two soon to be all-pro’s Thomas and Sherman turned the game around. To put this accomplishment in perspective, outside of his two interception performance Brady has thrown only one interception this season. It seems that in the last few weeks the Seahawks offense has taken big steps and have began producing. If the defense and the offense can come together at the same time we could be looking at a dangerous team down the stretch and the defense will continue to look to the Legion of Boom for the defensive presence. 3 Reasons the Seahawks should pursue Payton

Three seasons into his five-year contract Pete Carroll is not living up to expectations. While many fans might be quick to point out he has won a playoff game against the then defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints, the reality was it was done with a losing record and not a realistic marker of success. Carroll can argue he is building a team and that takes time, an argument...

The Seahawks are still in the playoff hunt, can they hold on? Week 10 preview.

The Seahawks have the defense and running game to make the playoffs.  Do they have enough QB play and WR's to win? I'm sitting at 84-49 heading into the weekend.  I need to have a huge run to get over .750 for the season. NY Giants @ Cincinnati - The Giants are coming off a tough home loss last week to the Steelers.  I think last weeks...

Moments in time…The Seattle Seahawks week that was

This marks the start of a weaker second half of the season, and a chance for the Seahawks to make their move up the standings. Read more about this here. With the win on Sunday, the Seahawks are once again over the .500 mark, and are making head...

Blatant homerism! I wouldn’t trade Lynch for Peterson

Or anyone for that matter On Monday, my editor sent me this Seattle Seahawks pitch, asking if I would be interested in writing the piece—he already had the headline picked.  I had to laugh a little bit at first because I actually had this conversation with my buddy at at a recent game. The actual conversation wasn’t really about Marhawn Lynch versus Adrian Peterson; it was...

Fantasy football forecast – Seattle Seahawks Week 10 NFL Predictions

Start ‘em & Sit ‘em Week 10 Fantasy Football – Seattle Seahawks Week 10 Predictions The Seahawks are at home for the second week in a row and that can only mean one thing: better than average numbers for all of their position players. Last week it seemed that everyone had a good game, and this week shouldn’t be much different. The visiting Jets come in off a bye week...

Carroll sees growth after studying Redskins

A frustrating loss at St. Louis in Week 4 sent Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll in search of ways to make his offense more productive. Russell Wilson and the Seahawks' offense had scored more than 20 points just once in four games and were converting just 28 percent of third down opportunities for the season. Against the Rams, Seattle was just 2 of 9 in third down conversions...

Seahawks LB Wright, OL Carpenter out with head injuries

The Seattle Seahawks ruled out linebacker K.J. Wright and guard James Carpenter for Sunday's game against the New York Jets, the Seattle Times reported Friday. Wright sustained a concussion last week against the Minnesota Vikings while Carpenter's head injury occured more than a week ago. Both are starters. "Both of those guys need a little bit more time, and so...

Charly Martin Released

Earlier today, the Seahawks released wide receiver Charly Martin.  It's presumed that the move was made in order to make room for cornerback Walter Thurmond, but Thurmond still hasn't been officially activated off of the physically unable to play list. As much as I like the idea of having Thurmond available again, I'm a bit torn about cutting Martin.  He isn'...

Seahawks who impressed against the Vikings Sunday

Seahawks turn it around at home Seattle Seahawks 30, Minnesota Vikings 20 When: 1:05 PM PST, Sunday, November 4, 2012 Where:  CenturyLink Field, Seattle, Washington At this point in the season, the Seattle Seahawks offense is a lot further along then I expected them to be. New York Jets at Seattle Seahawks: Three Bold Predictions

The emergence of so many young quarterbacks in recent years has turned the National Football League into a "passing league".Or so say the experts and media outlets who cover the sport.Recent years have also shown that it is possible for teams with weak defenses to not only make it to the Super Bowl, but win it. Sometimes it seems like I'm watching the "Bizarro...

Breakdown: New York Jets vs Seattle Seahawks

Coming out of a bye week, no one is expecting the 3-5 New York Jets to beat the 5-4 Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks have the 3rd best defense in the league, are undefeated at home, and have the advantage when it comes to both their offense and their defense. Unlike the dismissive and treasonous so-called Jet fans that have been outnumbering the real Jet fans in Metlife stadium, the...
