Found March 14, 2013 on Down and Distance:
New return man for the Patriots Leon Washington snaps a picture of himself via instagram with the quote #Blessed. Lets Go #Pats. New England is well on their way to filling the Wes Welker void.  They first acquired slot receiver Danny Amendola, and have now got their return game in place with Leon Washington.  The Patriots have a history of making good with New York Jets leftovers, and I expect this to be the case with Washington as well. Belichick and company won’t have to game plan against Washington anymore as he sealed the deal with the franchise Thursday.  He works as a duel threat, adding depth to the backfield as well as taking over the role of punt returns and kickoff returns. A few things come to question with the signing of Washington.  Danny Woodhead, a free agent this year, is New England’s multi-role player who can catch the ball as well as run it. Woodhead might have a hard time scoring a new contract with Washington in his way.  Another issue is the future of Jeff Demps, the track star from Florida who signed before the 2012 season.  Could Washington replace both of these players?  Whatever the case may be, Patriots fans will stick to their motto, “In Bill we trust.”   Follow Us On Twitter!  @DownandDistance Sports-Kings Down and Distance Contributor Austin Peat  @PistolPeat187   The post Leon Washington Signs 1-Year Contract With Patriots appeared first on DOWN & DISTANCE.

Why Leon Washington will vastly improve Patriots special teams in 2013

Over the past two seasons, the New England Patriots have been one of the worst teams in football when it comes to kick returns. In 2011, they finished 29 in the NFL and 25 last season. To improve on that for the upcoming season, the team signed former New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks RB/KR Leon Washington to one-year deal on Thursday. Washington, who can return punts and kicks...

Report: Leon Washington to Visit Patriots on Thursday, Could Help Return Game With Wes Welker Gone

The Patriots like go-go-gadget players, so it only makes sense that Leon Washington is on their radar. The running back, who was cut by the Seahawks this week, has shown he can run, play receiver, catch passes out of the backfield and return both punts and kickoffs. That’s exactly what the Patriots need, especially with Wes Welker now gone. Washington is set to visit the Patriots...
