Since receiver Percy Harvin was placed on IR December 15th with a severely sprained ankle, he's been away from the team, choosing to rehab on his own at his home in Florida. Of the people Ben Goessling of the Pioneer Press asked, head coach Leslie Frazier hasn't heard from him in a while, Adrian Peterson said he and Harvin bounced a few test messages back and forth, and OL Charlie Johnson said he hasn't talked to him at all. "It's purely up to him," Frazier said Wednesday. "If he wanted to be around, he can be around. The guys are working hard, doing everything they can. I know he wants our team to do well, and that's important. But we've got some other guys on IR that aren't around, as well. It doesn't concern us." We're sure Frazier would prefer the distance between the two at this time. As they prepare for their playoff matchup with the Green Bay Packers, Frazier, and the entire team for that matter, would not prefer any distractions. Harvin screamed at Frazier during their Nov. 4 loss to Seattle, and the two had another reported confrontation a month later, but Frazier, at least publicly, won't say there's any bad blood. "I know he's supportive of his teammates," Frazier said. "Any of the guys who are on IR who don't travel with us or participate in what we're doing, it's nothing that upsets their teammates or gets them concerned. These guys are so focused on (Saturday's wild-card game against) Green Bay and getting ready for that game, that's what's most important." var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});

Can warm-weather Walsh stay hot in the cold?

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Blair Walsh's rookie season for the Minnesota Vikings has come with the expected new experiences for the native Floridian. During the first snowstorm of the winter, punter Chris Kluwe chronicled Walsh's initial attempts to drive in the snow with a series of tweets that included: "As we leave the parking garage, @BlairWalsh3 says "Are there...

Peterson, Walsh win Player of Month honors

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. The honors continue to roll in for Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and rookie kicker Blair Walsh. Peterson, after rushing for a single-month record of 861 yards, was named the NFC's Offensive Player of the Month for December. Walsh, who made 11 of 12 field goal attempts in December, took home the Special Teams Player of the Month award. The...

Vikes' Peterson wants to play special teams too

Adrian Peterson has done plenty over the years for the Minnesota Vikings and he has never publicly balked at taking on even more responsibility. How about special teams? Of course, he'd love to do that, too. Peterson said Wednesday he has been lobbying to be on the field-goal block team. He also said he ''wouldn't mind getting back there'' as a kickoff returner...

Wilfs take low-profile rout to leading Vikings

While some NFL owners prefer to be out front as the faces of their franchises, Minnesota Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf stay behind the scenes providing quiet support. They are rarely quoted about the team. Instead, they shell out big bucks for new turf for the team's practice facility, help defensive end Everson Griffen after his mother suddenly died during the season and...

Packers want to force Ponder to beat them

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Adrian Peterson was the best player for the Minnesota Vikings all season. There is no debating that. But as great as the team's star running back was, he needed some help from quarterback Christian Ponder in order to get the Vikings into the playoffs. Throughout most of the season, Peterson didn't get that help. In his second NFL season, Ponder mostly struggled...

Packers still believe they can stop Peterson

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- There wasn't much that the Packers were able to do in the regular season to stop Adrian Peterson. The Minnesota Vikings' star running back totaled 409 yards in two games, making Green Bay's defense look helpless on many of his breakout runs. Instead of enjoying a restful bye week and watching as four playoff teams get eliminated on wild-card weekend...

Green Bay bar teases Adrian Peterson for not breaking Dickerson’s record

@HeyMattK, @KeithLeventhalLeading up to tomorrow night’s playoff game between the Vikings and Packers, a bar in Green Bay decided to poke fun at Adrian Peterson for falling nine yards short of breaking Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing record. Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName...

Minnesota Vikings versus Green Bay Packers point spread, line and betting odds

The Minnesota Vikings will play against the Green Bay Packers this Saturday in the opening round of the NFC playoffs. NBC will carry this game which has a 8 pm EST kickoff from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI. These two teams met last Sunday in that game the Vikings upended the Packers to earn a playoff birth. The Packers lost out on a first round bye with that loss but will host...

Packers again call on fans to shovel Lambeau

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- For the second time this season, the Packers are inviting fans to help clear snow and ice from Lambeau Field. Two days before Green Bay hosts the Minnesota Vikings in the playoffs, the team is looking for 600 fans to show up at 9 a.m. Thursday to help get the stadium ready. On Dec. 21, more than 1,000 fans showed up to shovel at least a foot of snow out of Lambeau...

Packers-Vikings Playoff Preview: Email Debate and Predictions

For the third time this season, the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings will do battle. But this time the winner progresses to the next level of NFL playoffs. And that means it’s time for MSF’s own Packers and Vikings fanatics to duke it via email one last time this season. Only six days ago, the Vikings defeated the Packers in a close game to earn themselves a wild card...

Playoff Preview: Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers

In what will be their third matchup this season, I expect this upcoming playoff game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers to play like the others from this past season. Minnesota forced it’s way into the playoffs last week with a home victory against the Pack, however Green Bay won the division. Like their other games, Saturday will be feature Minnesota’s Adrian...

An insider's view of Vikings vs. Packers

When the Minnesota Vikings left Lambeau Field at 6-6 after losing to the Packers on Dec. 2, no one imagined they'd be back so soon. After all, getting back to Green Bay for a playoff game would require four straight wins including one against the Packers in Minnesota in the final week of the regular season. But sometime in the past month, the Vikings started looking less like...
