The hot seat in the NFL can be a fickle topic. A coach could go from heading out the door one year to an entrenched position with the team and back to the hot seat within a couple of years (see Tom Coughlin in New York). That's been the case with Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier. According to Judd Zulgad, the Vikings head man will be seeing a contract extension in the not-so-distant future. Linebacker Chad Greenway seemed to echo Zulgad's sentiment that Frazier is a constant personality in the locker room, "His speeches are real consistent if you know what I mean. I think that's good. It is such a long season and there are so many ups and downs that I think if you have a coach that is kind of going with that; maybe he comes in Monday after a loss and he's really down and (you get a), 'This is going to ruin our season' sort of speech and that's not what Leslie is." It's true that Frazier has his team in playoff contenti...

Unflappable Frazier leads Vikings to playoff brink

Leslie Frazier took over a team in turmoil. After one rocky season, the unflappable coach has the Minnesota Vikings one victory away from a playoff berth. Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf tapped Frazier to be the interim coach in 2010 when Brett Favre and the rest of the team were falling apart. Frazier stepped in and impressed his bosses with how smoothly he navigated the collapse...

Frazier's consistent message carrying Vikings

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Minnesota Vikings' linebacker Chad Greenway has become very accustomed to coach Leslie Frazier's speeches in their six seasons together, knowing very well the message the team will receive from the calm, patient Frazier. The two have been together since Frazier came to Minnesota in 2007 as the team's defensive coordinator. Frazier coached Greenway...

Vikings Prepared To Offer Leslie Frazier A Contract Extension?

Jeff Zulgad of ESPN 1500 Twin Cities writes that it’s likely “only a matter of time” before the Minnesota Vikings offer head coach Leslie Frazier a contract extension. Zulgad adds that while it’s almost certain that Frazier will have an offer to consider, a deal probably won’t be finalized until after the season. Frazier’s first full season with the Vikings was pretty...

Vikings vying for playoffs with sore Peterson

One year ago, Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie Frazier approached the postgame news conference and was ready to bask in the glory of a pre-Christmas victory that snapped a six-game losing streak, even though star running back Adrian Peterson's career was in doubt following a major knee injury. That was then. Now, Peterson leads the NFL with 1,898 yards rushing and is only 207...

Peterson 'sore' but ready to play Sunday

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. With Sunday's dominating 23-6 win at Houston, the Minnesota Vikings have put themselves in position to make the playoffs. And they should be nearly full-strength for next Sunday's win-and-in playoff game at home against the Green Bay Packers in the regular-season finale. Minnesota coach Leslie Frazier said running back Adrian Peterson, who is 102 yards...

Blair Walsh set NFL record for most consecutive 50 yarders made

When Vikings special-teams coordinator Mike Priefer saw rookie kicker Blair Walsh warming up at Reliant Stadium on Sunday, Dec. 23, he went to coach Leslie Frazier with a simple, if bold, opinion: The Vikings should be able to attempt a field goal whenever they crossed the 50-yard line. So when Frazier sent Walsh out for a field goal with the ball on the Houston Texans’ 38-yard...

Vikings know significance of rivalry game

The Vikings and Packers always have an intense rivalry, but Sunday’s game is one of the biggest. The final game of the regular season will determine playoff positioning for both teams, and both of them are on winning streaks. Leslie Frazier and Chad Greenway are buying into the hype.
