Chicago Bears outside linebacker Lance Brigg will have a new responsibility in 2013, calling the defensive plays.
The departure on Brian Urlacher has brought a need for someone to receive the calls from the coaching staff and relay them to the defense.
Briggs will be the guy with a green dot on the back of his helmet this year, but he’s up to the challenge.
Brigg has bee accustomed to being more of a lead by example player, but admits now that Urlacher is gone, he’s been more of a vocal leader.
“I’m just more vocal now,” Briggs said, via Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.
“We have a lot of great players so for me it’s just getting guys aligned and getting them in best position to compete.”
“It’s very different,” Briggs said. “I didn’t call the plays before, and now I am. I just have a lot of respect. I’ve been spoiled for the last 10 years.”
