NBC’s Pro Football Talk website listed current salary cap space for all 32 NFL teams today. They range from the Chiefs at $33 million to the Rams at a scarce $270,000. Just a few notches up from the bottom sit the Detroit Lions. According to the report, they currently have $1.1 million in cap space.

Just before the free agency feeding frenzy began a few weeks ago, ESPN’s John Clayton calculated that the Lions were $16.6 million under the salary cap. That evaporated quickly as the Lions resigned some of their own players like Chris Houston, and snapped up Eric Wright and Stephen Tulloch from the UFA wire. If the Lions fail to produce wins this year, it will not be because they left too much money on the table.
