The Detroit Lions acquired cornerback Kevin Barnes from the Redskins. Barnes thought he was being released but was informed he had been dealt to the Lions on Monday morning. The Lions haven't announced the trade pending a physical. The former Maryland cornerback was a third-round pick in 2009. He started three of 29 games with the Redskins and was likely to enter the 2012 season as the nickel cornerback. Barnes has somewhat infamous ties to one member of the Lions. The 80th overall pick in 2009 delivered a jarring hit to running back Jahvid Best in a Sept. 2008 game at College Park that left Best woozy.
