PLAYERS: DeAndre Levy
TEAMS: Detroit Lions

Detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy had quite the offseason. Levy went to Peru with a friend and spent five days hiking up the Inca trail to Machu Pichu and spent another sevens day going through the Amazon rain forest. The crazy thing is that the closest town to where they were hiking was five hours away. “Ever since I was little I’ve wanted to go to the Amazon,” said Levy, a 26-year-old Milwaukee native who says Mount Kilimanjaro and Kenya are next on his to-do list. “And the way I went about it — I didn’t want to go on a cruise or to a resort or anything like that — I was just out there.” Levy was forced to eat rats from the jungle. “Yeah,” Levy said, “there’s a little jungle rodent we had to catch with a spear.” “Most of them think it’s crazy,” he told the Detroit News. “They found out I went skydiving, and they thought that was crazy. They thought the Amazon was nuts, eating frogs and rats and piranha and stuff like that.” I give Levy a lot of credit for his wild jou

Lions at Browns: Five things to watch

Jim Schwartz takes a 13-4 preseason record since becoming the Detroit Lions' coach into Thursday night's game at Cleveland. Coach of the Month for August? Here are five storylines to follow in the second of four exhibitions: 1. The first-team offense was on the field for two series totaling 11 plays in last week's 26-17 victory over the New York Jets. All three of...

Detroit Lions 2013: Most Overrated and Underrated Players

When we think of underrated and overrated players on a football team, we tend to search for the quarterback or the player who just got the new contract after one year of stellar play. We never think of the backup guard or the third-down pass rusher. And we never think of the coach. This might be one of those articles where a case can be made for a coach hanging on too long and doing...

Bruised knee sidelines Megatron

Detroit Lions star receiver Calvin Johnson will miss Thursday nights preseason game at Cleveland because of a bruised knee. The injury is not believed to be serious. The decision to sit Johnson was for precautionary reasons. Patrick Edwards, an undrafted player last year out of the University of Houston, is expected to start in Johnsons place. EXTRA POINT Bill Ford Jr., the Lions...

The Pride of Detroit

The toughest battle the Detroit Lions will have to face this season won’t be an opposing team, but will be in their efforts to restoring the pride of a city they call home.   After attending the Detroit Lions’ first preseason game, who were playing host to the New York Jets, I realized more than just a 26-17 victory from the home team. I realized that, even after a disappointing...

Detroit Lions 2013 Fantasy Football Projections

QB Matt Stafford (Detroit) One of the weird statistical things about the Lions in 2012 was that Matt Stafford set an NFL record with 727 passing attempts, but managed just 20 touchdowns. Well, somehow a running game that ran just 391 times on the season managed to steal 17 touchdowns away from Stafford, while backup Shaun Hill stole another 2 on 13 attempts. The Lions should remain...

Matt Stafford’s Girlfriend Can Cut a Rug

Kelly Hall, who happens to be the girlfriend of Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, can apparently dance up a storm and there is video to prove it.  Kenny showed off her skills during a “Dancing With The Stars” event which benefited Jack’s Place for Autism Foundation Not too shabby if you ask me. Lackluster Lions fall to Browns

On Thursday night, the Detroit Lions looked like many season-ticket holders throughout the league during the preseason. They were no-shows. The Lions starters got off to a terrible start. They were totally lethargic and ineffective in the first half of 24-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland. Heres how coach Jim Schwartz summed up their effort during...

First Down, Fourth Down: Lions Struggle Against Browns

It was another unimpressive outing for the Detroit Lions in the preseason, falling to the Cleveland Browns 24-6 in a sloppy performance. First Down: Reggie Bush Bush was brought into the Lions organization as a replacement for Jahvid Best and potential game changer. While he didn’t change the game last night, he was the only serviceable part of the offense. Carrying the ball eight...

Matthew Stafford’s Girlfriend Kelly Hall Struts Her Stuff in Dance Competition (Video)
