Fox Sports Detroit:
Green Bay Packers
No Megatron, no offense.
Thats the way it looked Sunday for the Detroit Lions, who were completely shut down while losing to the Green Bay Packers for the 23rd straight time on the road.
The Lions defense kept it close until late in the third quarter, but they needed some help and eventually wore down as the Packers pulled away for a 22-9 victory at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
The absence of star receiver Calvin Johnson brought the Lions offense to a halt. Johnson, hampered by a knee injury going all the way back to training camp, missed his first game since the final week of the 2010 season.
He had practiced Friday and was listed as questionable, but after he went through some agility and running drills before Sundays game, the decision was made to hold him out.
Coach Jim Schwartz didnt want to talk about how the offense was affected without Johnson during his post-game radio interview.
He wasnt one of our 46 (active) guys today so thats really not an item up for bids, Schwar...
BEST OF MAXIM
The Detroit Lions suffered a major setback heading into Sundays game at Green Bay.
Star receiver Calvin Johnson wont play because of a lingering knee injury that has hampered him since back in training camp.
Johnson scored four touchdowns in Detroits first four games, but he had only 21 total receptions for 312 yards, down considerably from last years record pace.
Calvin Johnson was back on the practice field for the Detroit Lions on Thursday, although it's still not clear how likely he is to play this weekend at Cleveland.
Johnson was inactive in a loss at Green Bay last weekend because of an injured right knee. He didn't practice Wednesday, but he was on the field Thursday during the portion of practice open to reporters.
The Detroit Lions have not won on the road in Green Bay since 1991. It looks as if their chances to win today have taken a major blow. The NFL Network is reporting that the Lions have made WR Calvin Johnson inactive for today’s game against the Packers.
Johnson has been battling a knee injury and had been listed as questionable this week. It was expected that Johnson would be able...
Lions All-Pro receiver Calvin Johnson was back at practice on Friday after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday because of a knee injury.Fantasy Spin:Megatron is listed as questionable on Detroit's injury report but we're sure he'll be active Sunday against the Packers. The talented wideout has only missed four games in seven NFL seasons with his last absence coming in...
Detroit Lions star receiver Calvin Johnson is out for their divisional showdown against the Packers.
The team's leading receiver had been sidelined two days last week with a knee injury before participating in practice on a limited basis Friday. He had been listed as questionable.
The Lions are already without Nate Burleson. Johnson has 21 catches for 312 yards and four touchdowns...
The Lions are officially ruling star wide receiver Calvin Johnson out vs the Green Bay Packers Sunday because of a lingering knee injury.

No Calvin Johnson on Sunday meant little offense for the Detroit Lions. Read what minor adjustment the Packers made in their secondary in the absence of the Lions’ star receiver and how the rest of the defense reacted.
The Detroit Lions just can't catch a break in this state.
They enter Sunday's game at Green Bay with a 3-1 record and share of the NFC North lead and a chance to put real distance between themselves and the Packers.
But they'll be without Calvin Johnson.
The receiver missed most of practice this week with a knee injury. He practiced during the 30 minutes available...
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- About 75 minutes before kickoff, players inside the Green Bay Packers' locker room began to find out that Detroit Lions' star wide receiver Calvin Johnson was inactive for their Week 5 matchup.
While Johnson's absence certainly played into the Packers' favor and their 22-9 victory over the Lions, at least one Green Bay player didn't take it...
I just assume that myself and Lions’ head coach Jim Schwartz were just watching two games today. Because there’s no way if you watched the Lions 22-9 loss to the Green Bay Packers, that you would think Calvin Johnson not playing didn’t matter. But according to the head coach himself, it made no difference to […]
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Other than being division opponents, it's been difficult to describe the Packers and Detroit Lions as rivals since Mike McCarthy took over as Green Bay's head coach in 2006.
With McCarthy's 13-1 record over the Lions, it's been an incredibly one-sided affair. But as McCarthy has studied this year's Detroit team, it's become apparent that...
It was going to be tough for the Lions without Nate Burleson who is out with a broken forearm. However, it is sure to be harder now, with the biggest news of the day, that all-pro wide receiver Calvin Johnson, will NOT be active in today's game against the Packers. It is the first game that he has missed all season and it will slow the Lions normally explosive offense.Starting...
Before kickoff, the Packers were given a boost of confidence in learning that offensive threat, Calvin Johnson was scratched from the lineup for the Lions.
Still, the Packers only hold a three-point advantage at Lambeau Field agains the Lions, 6-3. Crosby has nailed two field goals including a 52-yarder.
The story of the half has been Green Bay's running game and...
The Green Bay Packers return to Lambeau Field following their bye week. Waiting for them is a tough division matchup against what appears to be an improved Detroit Lions team. Here are five matchups that will be key in securing a Packers win to pull them back to .500 on the year.
1. Sam Shields vs Calvin Johnson: Johnson, or Megatron as many have liked to call him is where the Lions...
