Lions OC Anthony Lynn: I haven't talked to USC about coaching job

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn told reporters Thursday he hasn't talked to anyone at USC about the school's head coaching job.

"My sister graduated from USC. I have half my family in California. A lot of the guys that I played with went to USC. So of course those guys have talked to me, and that's flattering," Lynn said, according to Kyle Meinke of MLive. "But to be honest with you, I'm surprised something like this even went public, you know? I haven't spoken with USC at all."

Lynn's comments were a response to a report from NFL reporter Jim Trotter that USC boosters had reached out to Lynn to gauge his interest in the head coaching job.

Lynn said his focus right now is "1,000,000%" with the Lions, who he joined this offseason. However, he was noncommittal when asked whether he'd be interested in the USC coaching job after the 2021 season ends.

Lynn joined Detroit this offseason after being relieved of his duties as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers. In four seasons with the franchise, he went 33-31 and had just one playoff win.

The Trojans fired head coach Clay Helton earlier this month after six-plus seasons. Donte Williams is serving as the team's interim head coach.
