The Detroit Lions sit at 6-4, and are right in the thick of the NFL wild card and divisional race. During the off season, the Lions sought to improve their special teams play by signing two-time pro bowler Montell Owens.  The 29-year old Owens has battled injuries all year, already spending time on the injured reserve with a designation to return list, specifically battling a lingering knee injury. Owens made a return to the playing field two weeks ago, but aggravated his knee injury and is now slated to miss the remainder of the 2013 season. The Lions signed Owens to a two-year contract in the off season, and are looking forward to his contributions come the 2014 season. The Lions have signed tight end Dorin Dickerson to fill Owens’ roster spot. Dickerson spent time with the Lions earlier this season, but was released after not fielding any playing time.
