Safety Marquand Manuel might have a tough time making the Lions' roster according to Tom Kowalski of Mlive.com. Manuel signed with Detroit late last year, not joining the team until June and he worked his way into the starting lineup but missed the last seven games of the season with a shoulder injury. He is a tough, aggressive player who never turns down a hit, but he doesn't have great speed and is vulnerable in man coverage. Manuel doesn't make as many mental mistakes as some others competing for that position, but his lack of speed is a concern. As a result, he hasn't gotten a lot of reps in the OTAs and minicamp, and that's a fairly good sign the Lions will look to upgrade that spot, if possible.
