For much of the off-season, many fans assumed that the Eagles were going to trade cornerback Lito Sheppard, since they already had Sheldon Brown and spent big money to acquire Asante Samuel. The trade never came, though, and all three cornerbacks are on the team, with Brown and Samuel starting and Sheppard coming in as the nickel back. Sheppard isn't happy about that.

  • I cant blame him. If hes only on the feild for 30% of the defensive snaps then I cant blame him. If they keep him this season, then I'm thinking that they are going to move Sheldon Brown to take over Dawkins position (Dawkins is in his final yr of his contract and is turning 35 oct 13th), that way Lito could regain his starting role as corner next season. I really respect the way hes been handling this situation, a true professional.
  • Did you hear his comments last nite with Ike Reese? Somethings about to happen...
  • I was about to agree with Rainman on the way Lito has been handling this, though it seemed odd to me as his agent is Drew the Dick Rosenprick. I missed last night, but I'm sure there will be a blow up. Not because of Leto, because of Drew the Dick!
  • what did he say with Ike Reese last night?
  • I wish I knew df, but if it was troublesome I'm sure his agent put him up to it!
  • I hear you Spot. When it comes to as you put it Rosenprick, I wouldn't put anything past him.
  • He made comments about how he deserves to start, doesn't know how he lost his starting job because hes healthy, thinks things are getting worse, thinks somethings gonna happen this season. However, he did say hes nowhere near the same person TO is. I wish Ike Reese would have just said "well maybe Sheldon beat you out in camp, ever think of that?"
  • No player on the Eagles is going to be a happy camper if they lose the next game, which is a good possibility.
  • If he goes anywhere it will have to be by the 15th i thonk or he will be here all season. Trade deadline is coming up this month.
  • Nothing's gonna happen this year. He said on MNL "Hopefully it's resolved sooner rather than later", and when he was pressed on whether that meant something was in the works, he said that nothing's in the works, he's just hopeful to get the money he wants - if not here than somewehere else. Personally, I'm a fan of Lito's but I think they need to check his IQ, b/c he can't seem to understand the simplest logic. He keeps saying "They keep saying it's b/c I can't stay healthy, but I'm healthy now, so what's the problem?" The problem is that when he was a "starter", he hadn't been able to play a full season! I don't see what's so hard to understand about that. Screw it - trade him for Roy Williams. I wish someone would ask him if he went to a team like Detroit and got paid like he wants if he'd still be happy knowing he'd finish out his career possibly never seeing the playoffs again.
  • Bottom line is the guy isnt making plays. I havent even seen him around the ball, even Considine has shown better instincts. It shouldnt be said that Lito is unhappy with Philly, Philly has reasons to be unhappy with Lito
  • How can somebody make plays who isn't on the field? Ask Clemons about that one, he'd be happy to see 30% of each games' snaps like Lito.
  • Clemons isnt on the field because he hasnt proven that he should be on the field. Lito knows the defense has no excuses. He hasnt been around the ball and has missed a hand full of tackles and opportunities. I support Lito, but he isnt playing to his potential. It might be a slump, but if it continues then it starts to look like his attitude is causing this, and that is childish to me.
  • Actually Clemons isn't on the field because Johnson hasn't included him in very many defensive packages. He's be put in very situational roles like Hugh Douglas was when he first got here and those situations haven't come about very often.
  • During the post game interviews of the Pittsburgh game on the following Thursday, Johnson said Clemons hasnt been used because he doesnt have very many situations, like you said. But during post game interviews during the preseason against the Pats, Reid mentioned that Clemons and Booker are learning the situational techniques. No translation needed for that. So actually Clemons doesnt have very many packages because he is still soaking up information. It still doesnt apply to Lito
  • Im Sorry but I think Sheppard should be starting i am tired of seeing sheldon brown always being burnt. No disrespect to Sheldon. But I am happy the way Lito has been taking care of the situation
  • Whos burned Sheldon this year? If I recall correctly it was #26 that we saw trailing T.O. and #22 that we saw tripping over himself as Hester caught a TD. Though I'd much rather see Sheldon playing safety on passing downs....Mikells been getting beat a lot.
  • I dunno I personally think that he is among the elite corners WHEN HEALTHY. It truely isnt something he can control when it comes to injuries. No one can control that. It has to be frusterating when your one of the most talented defensive players in the league, and you lose your job because of injuries. I agree and understand why Lito is disapointed... He should be. However I also understand the Eagles side of things. The NFL is a business and its not allways fair or pretty. I'm sure that plenty of teams in the NFL would do the same thing if put in the same position as the Eagles.
  • Funny thing, I remember Reid making a comment a few years back that a player will NEVER lose his position due to injury.
  • I dont remember that, but if he did say that, isnt that the understatment of the century
