Though the Tennessee Titans pulled off an impressive 38-13 win over the New York Jets this past Sunday, this beating has been overlooked due to the injury to Jake Locker. It has been reported that Locker will miss at least three games after being careened off of Jets’ defensive linemen, Muhammad Wilkerson and Quinton Coples with 11:14 left in the third quarter of Sunday’s game.  Both players were later fined for their role in the play. Before leaving the game, Jake Locker was having the best game of his short NFL career.  In the first half, Locker threw for 149 yards completing 18 of 23 attempts.  Locker also threw for three scores and rushed for 17 yards. After Locker was carted off the field, Mike Munchak turned to back up quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick.  A veteran quarterback who has been surrounded by mediocre teams for the majority of his career, Fitzpatrick threw for over 100 yards and a touchdown against the shaky Jets defense. Because the Titans are 3-1 and have been playing so well as a team, the minimal role that running back Chris Johnson has been forced to play has been overshadowed.  Though coming close to eclipsing the 100 yard mark over the past few weeks, Johnson only touched the ball 15 times Sunday while Jackie Battle was the team’s leading rusher gaining 42 yards on the ground.  Johnson averaged a mere 1.4 yards per carry. Each week of the season thus far can be summed up in a similar matter in regards to Tennessee.  Physical defensive play, no turnovers and Chris Johnson playing a minor role in all of this success.  This week was no different. The Tennessee defense was stellar yet again forcing four New York turnovers.  Rookie quarterback, Geno Smith, threw two interceptions and lost two fumbles.  The Jets’ offense was held to under 100 yards on the ground and only scored one touchdown, which came in the fourth quarter when the game was already out of reach.  The Titans defense continues to dominate offenses giving up 17.25 points per game while cornerback, Alterraun Verner, leads the league in interceptions. It is true that the Tennessee Titans have not beaten a team with a winning record but certainly show more promise than in years past.  Week 5 brings the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs into LP Field for a matchup that should feature two of the best defenses in the NFL.
