The Eagles Perch:
I figure I should fire up this machine to start blogging again now that the NFL Labor Battle is over. The Eagles report for training camp this Wednesday and they can start signing and trading tomorrow. Free agency itself doesn't start until Friday but we expect plenty of moves until then.
Speaking of moves, the Birds have rescinded the Transition Tag on kicker David Akers. The new collective bargaining agreement didn't allow that a team use both the Transition and Franchise tag together and since they slapped the Franchise tag on Michael Vick, Akers will probably be on a different team next season. That is a shame but not an unexpected development. Alex Henery was drafted in the 5th round and you don't draft kickers that high unless you plan to use them.
Keep looking here as the craziest week in NFL action is just beginning!
