FLOWERY BRANCH-The Atlanta Falcons linebacking corps just got thinner. They attempted to sign a potential replacement for the departed Curtis Lofton when they brought in former Seahawks great Lofa Tatupu who sat out 2011 after injuries curtailed his 2010 season.
The bug continues to bite as Tatupu injured himself in a weight lifting session on Thursday according to a team statement.

Lofa Tatupu is a 3-time Pro-Bowler, making it in 2005, 2006, and 2007. However, his career was derailed by injuries to the point where he was completely out of football last year. Still only heading into his age 30 season, the Falcons took a chance on him this offseason as a two down run stuffer, to compliment 2011 3rd round pick Akeem Dent.
However, it appears those plans have been...
It’s crazy to think that the Vikings were in the NFC Championship game in 2009. 2010 was a lost year because they had a suddenly decrepit Brett Favre at quarterback and they won just 6 games. They started over in the 2011 NFL Draft, using the 12th pick in surprising fashion on Christian Ponder, widely considered a 2nd round pick. They also traded for Donovan McNabb, in...
Dan Wiederer of the Star Tribune believes there’s a good chance that Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is placed on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list to start training camp.
“While Spielman wouldn’t say so directly, the easiest decision with Peterson will be to put him on the Camp PUP list next week, a designation that has to be made before...
The Falcons have made the playoffs in each of the last 2 seasons, but have not won a single playoff game. Matt Ryan, in fact, has not won a playoff game in his career, despite making the playoffs in 3 out of his 4 seasons in the NFL. For what it’s worth, I think too much is being made of Ryan’s inability to win a playoff game. Peyton Manning started 0-3 in his career...
Here’s something that Vikings fans should be thrilled to hear. Remember back in 2010 when Favre led the Vikings to a 6-10 season? Where he threw 19 interceptions and only 11touchdowns? And had a quarterback rating of 69.9?
Remember when his teammates went down to Hattiesburg and convinced Favre to play one last season? Well, actually it wasn’t his teammates that convinced him...
The Falcons will have arguably the most amount of competition for roles on special teams in seemingly a long while this summer. The team is two-deep at all three specialist spots, and both return spots are completely open to competition.
It is likely that the incumbents at all three specialist spots will retain their jobs with Matt Bryant at kicker, Matt Bosher at punter, and...
The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed veteran linebacker Mike Peterson to address their need for depth.
The 6-foot-1, 226-pounder played in all but one game of the Falcons, starting five games before being placed on injured reserve with a triceps injury that needed surgery to repair hte damage.
Peterson, 36, recorded 27 tackles with one interception and two pass deflections.

DORAVILLE, Ga. -- As Eric Wynalda sprints around the pitch at the Atlanta Silverbacks' facility, yelling instructions, calling offside and scribbling notes on his yellow notepad, he finally takes a break to sit in the stands.
He notes that it's the little things he has to fix with his struggling North American Soccer League side.
