Noticeably absent from Super Bowl XLVII was the NFL’s Rookie of the Year, Robert Griffin III. RG3 was selected second overall in last April’s NFL draft and led the Washington Redskins to the playoffs.
However he did not attend Super Bowl XLVII.
‘I’m a firm believer you don’t go to the Super Bowl unless you’re playing in it,” Griffin said via the Associated Press.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL has questioned the Washington Redskins to find out when they believe Robert Griffin III will be able to play next season so they can schedule their nationally televised games accordingly.
Schefter also reported that it’s a “near certainty” that Griffin will start out the 2013 season on the PUP list.
