New England Patriots’ veteran wide receiver Torry Holt was placed on injured reserve Sunday, the team announced.  Holt’s season with the Pats, and possibly his NFL career, ended with this announcement.  Holt will undergo surgery on the knee later this week. The 34-year-old wide out was a St. Louis Ram for 10 seasons.  He was drafted 6th overall out of North Carolina State in 1999 by St. Louis. As a rookie, Holt had 52 receptions for 788 yards to go along with 6 touchdowns.  This was a solid contribution to a stellar offense that ranked 1st in total yards and total points scored, a.k.a. “The Greatest Show of Turf.” Holt (left) caught a nine yard touchdown pass from Kurt Warner to help the Rams win Super Bowl XXXIV.
