Look: WWE uses Jaguars loss to Titans to troll Tony Khan, AEW

The Jacksonville Jaguars social media team apparently isn’t familiar with the idiom about putting the cart before the horse.

Despite not having a playoff spot secured at the time, the Jags official X account tweeted a link on Dec. 13 for fans to buy playoff tickets. The problem is the Jaguars will be watching the postseason from home like the rest of us after being upset 28-20 by the Tennessee Titans Sunday at Nissan Stadium – a loss that cost Jacksonville its spot in the playoffs.

While many used the opportunity to crack a joke at the Jaguars expense, the troll job done by the WWE on Fox X account may have been the most amusing of all.

The gif WWE used was of former WWE champion and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle from a video he recently posted on TikTok in which he awkwardly stares for too long into the camera.

The tweet was a shot at rival wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling, whose owner Tony Khan is the senior president of football and analytics for the Jaguars and also the son of team owner Shad Khan.

It’s just the latest jab thrown in the years-long rivalry between the two wrestling companies who have gone back and forth signing several superstars away from each other’s roster over the last two years.

WWE, which grossed $1.3 billion in revenue in 2023, is the No. 1 professional wrestling promotion in the world while AEW, which grossed more than $170M in 2023, is No. 2.
