Found August 12, 2013 on One Jet At A Time:
One preseason game, and we're not any closer to knowing what the New York Jets' Week 1 running back depth chart will look like. In fact, we may be even further from an answer than earlier this offseason.  Today, trade acquisition Chris Ivory practiced, fully, for the first time. Ivory expects to play against the Jaguars on Saturday, but is not a lock to lead the Jets' backs.  While explosive in the snaps he was given in New Orleans, Ivory is still very unproven, and his injury frequency may be an issue. Rex Ryan spoke on Ivory and his status, today.  "I hope he does play Saturday and it’s not even funny, if I say I never saw him (joking)," Ryan said. "No, he looked excellent. I mean, that’s a big, powerful man. That’s the guy we’ve been waiting (for). I think every Jet fan has been looking forward to seeing this guy run and today we got to see it some." During last Saturday's game against the Lions, running back John Griffin broke ...

Jets RB Ivory hopes to make debut vs. Jags

Chris Ivory took the handoff from Mark Sanchez and powered forward, past the defensive line and into the end zone. It's the kind of play the New York Jets plan on seeing quite a bit this season. For now, they're just happy Ivory is on the field practicing. The running back fully participated for the second straight day after being limited by a hamstring injury all of training...

Jets' Ryan answers criticism over not watching QBs

Rex Ryan wasn't sure what all the fuss was about. Sure, the New York Jets coach missed a few plays by his quarterbacks as he focused on the defense in the preseason opener at Detroit on Friday night. But Ryan says that's not unlike every other NFL coach - it's just that he wasn't afraid to say it. Ryan took some criticism after the game when he said he didn'...

Rex Ryan: Geno Smith had a ‘brutal’ practice on Wednesday

Jets head coach Rex Ryan Acknowledged that rookie quarterback Geno Smith had a “brutal” practice on Wednesday, according to Rich Cimini of Smith ended up throwing multiple interceptions. This isn’t anything to worry about.  With Smith being a rookie, I’m surprised it took so long for him to have a bad practice.     Need NFL Tickets? Loading... ...

New York Jets Quarterback Competition Gets Ugly

The New York Jets‘ quarterback competition has been a pretty ugly sight for at least a couple of months now, but it looks even worse after the 26-17 loss to the Detroit Lions in the preseason opener Friday night. Rex Ryan defends Geno Smith

There was some talk coming out of West Virginia this past weekend that New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith wasn’t the leader people thought he was. Whether it’s true or not is one thing but there’s one person standing by his side, his head coach Rex Ryan. Ryan didn’t sound too happy that his former teammates would say stuff like this now and took his own shot at the university...

Dark Clouds on the Final Day in Cortland
