Lions safety Louis Delmas was given an alligator egg during his rookie season by Cowboys linebacker Ernie Sims who was a teammate of his at the time.
Sims told Delmas it would hatch in a week, but it only took two days.
“It was very unexpected, but I’ve had it ever since,” Delmas said via MLive.com.
He ended up naming his now six foot gator, Mojo.
Delmas says it was too much ffor him to take care of since he had to feed him three giant rats a week.
“That gator ate my refrigerator dry,” Delmas joked.
Delmas says his gator got too big for him to take care of and teammate Kevin Ogletree was moving in and was terrified of Mojo.
“I told him I couldn’t stay there with the gator there, so he had to make some adjustments for the New York City kid,” Ogletree said.
Delmas had Mojo picked up by Allen Park Critter Shop which is where he’s been since he left his home.

Well it’s time for Delmas to lose his Mojo. His new roommate Kevin Ogletree is a bit uncomfortable with the idea of sharing a house with a pet gator:

Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas is a fantastic teammate. How do we know this? Delmas was willing to give up a member of his family so teammate Kevin Ogletree can live with him. Five years ago, former Lions linebacker Ernie Sims — a known collector of exotic animals — gave Delmas an alligator egg. That […]
Earlier this year the NFL announced that several teams will be heading to London to play one regular-season game. Two of those teams are the Atlanta Falcons and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Well we’re learning today via Tim Twentymen that the Detroit Lions will play Atlanta Falcons in 2014 in London. @ttwentyman: The Lions are going […]
Today OT Corey Hilliard (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against Dallas and both left tackle Riley Reiff (hamstring) and right tackle Jason Fox (knee) have been deemed questionable, although both practiced Friday for the Lions. This means Detroit has just two tackles — rookie LaAdrian Waddle and recently signed Barry Richardson — […]
According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free-Press, Lions running back Reggie Bush was held out of Friday’s practice as a precaution.
Reggie Bush said he missed practice today for “precautionary” reasons. Not related to previous knee injury. No need to panic.

Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush was present at Friday's practice, just not participating. With his right leg wrapped up, Bush was merely an observer after practicing with no issues on Wednesday and Thursday. “I’m fine,” Bush said, via Kyle Meinke of MLive.com.

Reports this morning out of Detroit have Lions running back Reggie Bush not practicing Friday, with his right leg wrapped up. Bush hasn’t been listed on the Lions’ injury report this week.
If Bush can’t play Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, that would very much please owner Jerry Jones.
Jones was asked Friday morning on KRLD-FM who he’s more worried about this week with...
After 10 or so seasons, most players see a natural decline in their play, but that hasn’t been the case for Lions center Dominic Raiola in year 13.
“I think he probably is playing as good as he’s ever played,” offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said.
Raiola will make his 180th career start on Sunday against the Cowboys, and if his play is any indication, he won’t be...
Detroit Lions playmaker Reggie Bush missed Friday’s practice as a precaution to rest his ailing leg. Bush will compete this weekend when the Lions (4-3) host the Cowboys (4-3) in Detroit. “Feel good,” said Bush, 28, who signed a four-year contract with the Lions in March worth roughly $20 million. “Just taking a day off, getting ready for the game on Sunday.” Possibly working...
Dallas Cowboys (4-3) at Detroit Lions (4-3)
The Lions are going into a bye this week. Ordinarily, teams cover at an above average rate going into a bye, which makes sense because they don’t have any distractions on the horizon. However, the Lions are just small home favorites here and teams do not cover as small home favorites going into a bye, as teams who are favored by 3 or...
