via AP Lions safety Louis Delmas has an (extremely) overly-heightened sense of opinion of his teammates and himself.  On Wednesday, Delmas told Lions beat writer Dave Birkett that the Lions should be 14-0 heading into their Week 16 game against the Giants. “For all the talent we have … there’s no reason we shouldn’t be undefeated, there’s no reason we shouldn’t have won more games.  But stuff happens. We definitely feel the pain that everybody else is feeling because we’re actually the ones out there losing. We know what we’re capable of and we know what it takes to get wins around here, and that’s what we have to do.” Now, I’m all for having confidence in your ability.  Top-level athletes have to carry themselves with a certain sense of arrogance.  But to say that a team with a 7-7 record should be undefeated is all kinds of ignorant. You see, knowing what you’re capable of how to get there is good for fantasy football.  But teams don’t line up and hit each other in fantasy football.  Teams don’t give up crucial third downs in fantasy football.  Teams don’t drop passes or throw inaccurate passes in fantasy football. I would say that I’d like some of whatever Delmas is on, but nobody should ever have what Delmas is on.  Are the Lions a talented football team?  Yes.  Should they be anywhere close to undefeated?  Heck no. Maybe it was Delmas’ way of throwing head coach Jim Schwartz under the proverbial bus.  But anyone who has watched the Lions would know that if Delmas was hitting Schwartz where it hurts, he’d miss the tackle and give up a big play.  Then he’d compound it with a late hit out of bounds.
