Even though Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported that former Bears head coach Lovie Smith interviewed for the USC head job,  he told Jay Glazer of FOX Sports that he never met with Southern Cal and he’s not interested. Just heard from Lovie Smith who was taken aback by report he interviewed for USC. Report: USC Interviews Lovie Smith & are Interested in Jon Gruden

Details are sketchy and Smith’s people deny it, but here is what being reported by CBS Sports courtesy of Pro Football Talk. Smith has interviewed with USC for its head coaching position, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS. According to La Canfora, USC is also very interested in former Raiders and Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden, but that interest is apparently not reciprocated...

Bears Defense: New, Definitely Not Improved

It will be a new challenge, with Mel Tucker calling the defensive shots instead of longtime nemesis Lovie Smith. Chicago's defense, however, is bad by historic proportions. Going without Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs and Henry Melton certainly hasn't helped.
