Report: Geno Smith looks out of shape

New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith reportedly looked out of breath towards the end of the team's training camp practice on Monday.

LOSING, THEN BOOZING

Rex Ryan poses with Jets fan in funny shirt

Rex Ryan took a picture with a Jets fan this weekend, which normally wouldn’t be a big deal because I’m assuming he does so quite a bit. But this wasn’t just any ordinary Jets fan, this was a Jets fan wearing a shirt that confesses “This Team Makes Me Drink.” And judging by the rosiness of those cheeks, it makes that fan drink a lot. Can’t really blame him, I’d probably...

Plenty of Competition at Jets Camp

Cortland, NY – Whether fair or not, there is not as much fanfare around the Jets this offseason. Several big names have been shown the door following a 6-10 debacle of a season, and analysts are picking the Jets to finish near the bottom of the league. But what the turnover and lack of gaudy expectations has done is it's led to more competition in training camp this year."...

No Huddle – New York Jets Patient Approach Edition

TJ Rosenthal kicks off another week of New York Jets coverage at Turn On The Jets with his weekly No Huddle - Make sure to give TJ a follow on Twitter on Turn On The Jets a follow on Facebook. Training camp is three days old and already it is quite refreshing to sit back and watch the quarterback competition begin without the media tag of “circus” anywhere near Cortland...

Braylon Edwards on Mark Sanchez: “Mark can’t make mistakes like he has in the past”

Braylon Edwards believes the Jets’ quarterback competition is going to be close and Mark Sanchez can’t make mistakes as he faces off with rookie Geno Smith. “It’s going to be a battle,” Edwards said, via  ESPNNewYork.com. “Mark can’t make mistakes like he has in the past. Things have to be legit with Mark for him to be the starter because he has a legit guy knocking...

Rex Ryan says the media is making more of Idzik’s comments

I don’t think it is going too far to call the quarterback the most important position on the football field. Sure, there have been a handful of teams that found success with average players under center, but most typically, the best teams have the best QBs. So you would think that a team that has an unsettled QB situation has a big decision to make. Which is why New York Jets GM...

Jets suspend practice because of heavy rain

The New York Jets have suspended training camp practice because of severe storms. There was no immediate word Sunday if the team would resume practice later in the day. Shortly after the start of practice - scheduled to be the first in full pads - drenching rains and lightning swept through the area in Cortland, N.Y. The Jets suspended practice and fans were told to leave. The...

Rex Ryan doesn't see what all the hoopla is about over QB decision

For the New Yorks Jets, in one corner we have the much maligned starting QB Mark Sanchez. In the other, there's highly touted rookie Geno Smith. Fans are waiting with bated breath for decision to be made, and this time around, head coach Rex Ryan won't be the only person making the decision. New GM John Idzik previously said he'd like a role in that decision, and some...

Geno Smith looks out of shape according to report

Brian Baldinger of the NFL Network was present at Jets practice this weekend, paying particular interest to rookie quarterback Geno Smith, who is looking to replace Mark Sanchez as the Jets’ starting quarterback. For the most part, Baldinger was impressed with Smith’s work, with one glaring exception. “He looked good to me yesterday until he ran gassers at the end of practice...

Braylon Edwards Says Mark Sanchez “Can’t Make Mistakes Like He Has in Past”

Braylon Edwards is back for his third tour of duty with the New York Jets, but it’s the same old story as usual.  The Jets have no true play makers on the outside, and Mark Sanchez is a question at quarterback. Edwards told reporters at Jets camp that Sanchez has a battle on his hands with Geno Smith, and that Sanchez “can’t make mistakes like he has in the past.” “It’s...

Jets QB pick ultimately up to OC

Let’s end the rhetoric when it comes to who will have the biggest voice when it’s time to name the Jets starting quarterback for the 2013 season opener. It’s not going to be coach Rex Ryan or general manager John Idzik. It’s going to be offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. Why? It’s his offense. Idzik on Saturday and Ryan yesterday have spent two days trying to convince...

How Jets' safety competition is shaping up

BY NICK ST. DENISDawan Landry was an instant starter the second the New York Jets signed the veteran safety and brother of former Jet LaRon Landry. The other safety job, however, was expected to be between Josh Bush, Antonio Allen and Jaiquawn Jarrett. That competition is now down to two.Jets coach Rex Ryan told reporters Monday that Bush is slotted as Landry's backup, leaving...

Braylon Edwards knows Mark Sanchez needs to be better to hang on to starting job in New York

Without a doubt, the biggest quarterback battle, or at least the closest watched battle, is in New York where rookie Geno Smith is trying to unseat veteran Mark Sanchez for the privilege of leading the Jets' offense on Sundays this season. Players have been weighing in the matter for much of the offseason, and now it's apparently wide receiver Braylon Edwards' turn...

Jets Sign First-Round Pick CB Dee Milliner

The Jets announced that they have reached an agreement with first-round pick CB Dee Milliner. Milliner was one of two remaining draft picks who remained unsigned, along with Titans first-round pick G Chance Warmack. We are waiting to hear the details of Milliner’s contract, which should be released shortly. The post Jets Sign First-Round Pick CB Dee Milliner appeared first on NFL Trade Rumors -.

The "Quarterback" Competition on the Defensive Side

Cortland, NY - I'm sick of hearing about the quarterback competition and I know I'm not alone in that feeling. The Jets have question marks all over the field this preseason. One of those question marks looms over the safety position."That position really runs the show back there,' Rex said in his press conference this afternoon. He's ready to guarantee one...
