Fox Sports:
Indianapolis Colts fans shouldn't worry that the team's new franchise quarterback will remain unsigned at the start of training camp.
That's because Andrew Luck doesn't sound worried.
"I'm sure (the contract) will get done," Luck said Wednesday night after reporting to the NFL's rookie symposium in Aurora.
The first overall selection in April's draft, Luck is expected to sign a contract worth slightly more than the four-year, $22 million deal that quarterback Cam Newton signed with Carolina as the No. 1 pick in 2011.
Because of the rookie salary slotting system that was adopted last year as part of the new collective bargaining agreement with the NFL Players Association, there isn't much wiggle room for Luck's representatives to negotiate a more lucrative pact. The Sports Xchange reported last week that the main holdup relates to Luck's marketing rights, which is a claim that Colts owner Jim Irsay subsequently denied.
"Honestly, I let my agent worry about that side of things," Luck said about his contract status.
Because the CBA requires a drafted player's class graduate before he can report to practice, Luck was forced to miss several Co006Cts' offseason practices until earlier this month. Luck said that absence has tempered his personal involvement in trying to finalize a Colts contract.
"I focus on football, especially having missed so much (practice) time because of school," said Luck, who graduated with a degree in architectural design. "I didn't want very many distractions to make sure I catch up in terms of time with everybody else. My agent will handle (negotiations)."
Luck is one of the most storied college quarterbacks since predecessor Peyton Manning was chosen atop the 1998 draft by Indianapolis. Luck was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy in his final two college seasons at Stanford.
The Colts open training camp July 28 in Anderson, Ind.
Andrew Luck was interviewed by Alex Marvez and co-host Jim Miller on SiriusXM NFL Radio .

Winning Over a City and Growing a Fanbase, Part III
This series will take a look at the ever growing perception of the exaggerated "problem" of Colts' fanhood. While I find the outcry over the slightly lower rate of season ticket renewals to be very exaggerated (and way offbase...
Predictions for the offensive rookie of the year in 2012
The anathema to defense, the best way to win is to keep the ball in the hands of a trustworthy offense. Nothing is more horrifying than watching a dreadful quarterback drop back to pass. Running a defense ragged with a punctual rushing attack that is complemented by a great passer is the way to go. Here are six of the top rookie of the year candidates on the offensive side of the...
