EA Sports just sent out a news release unveiling the soundtrack for Madden NFL 11. I'll say it: The thing is pretty uninspired. If they're going for a "Best of Jock Jams" feel, the mission accomplished. And maybe EA can't go broad and interesting in its music choices because of the scale of its audience. But yeah, I can't see anyone getting particularly excited about this year's offerings.
I will say that I don't want to be entirely critical, because I see the spark of a decent idea. With all the attention paid to detail, I wonder whether we're getting closer to having customized soundtracks for each stadium. The inclusion of the fight songs tells me that might be the case. For example, as a Bengals fan I'm used to the Bootsy Collins songs he's done for Paul Brown Stadium on Sundays. I'd rather hear that kind of thing -- as cheesy as the song is -- rather than hearing "Thunderstruck" for the 9,000th time. The soundtrack fo...
