SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A Lincoln County grand jury has indicted a 27-year-old Sioux Falls man on second-degree murder and manslaughter charges in the death of the 2-year-old son of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. Lincoln County state's attorney Tom Wollman said Monday that Joseph Robert Patterson will be scheduled for an arraignment this week. Wollman says Patterson was indicted on Friday. Patterson is charged with assaulting Tyrese Robert Ruffin in a Sioux Falls apartment. The boy died after being hospitalized with severe head injuries. Patterson is the boyfriend of Tyrese's mother. Peterson had had just recently found out that Tyrese was his son. The NFL star had been planning to meet the boy and rushed to Sioux Falls when he heard Tyrese was hospitalized.

Idea of trading Adrian Peterson causes turmoil

If you are a Minnesota Vikings fan, idiot doesn’t even begin to describe Tom Powers, but I’m trying to steer away from vulgarity. The (now marked man) St. Paul Press writer wrote Thursday that the Minnesota Viking should trade star running back, Adrian Peterson, for draft picks. His notion was that it would help build a more solid, championship team. He backed his story up with...

Adrian Peterson knows he needs to do more for the Vikings

Last season Adrian Peterson had arguably one of the greatest seasons all time for a running back and led his team to a 10-6 record and the playoffs. This season the Vikings have 5 losses in their first six games and Adrian Peterson is not having the type of season he had last year, on pace for about 1360 yards, a little over half of his 2500 yard prediction. Peterson knows he must...

Adrian Peterson has not been the same since his son has died, because it is still in the news.  You cannot turn away from it, and now it is back in the media again.  This time, the judge has worked wonders. South Dakota judge has increased bond from $750,000 to $1 million for the man […]

Ray Lewis Says He Looked Into Adrian Peterson’s Eyes & Wondered if AP Will Retire

This is the preacher in Ray Lewis talking, not the businessman, but here is his quote courtesy of Larry Brown Sports. “Me going out on that field tonight and me looking at Adrian Peterson’s eyes, it’s something that I want to bring up that I don’t want to see happen to this young kid. Because we saw it happen to a great one one time before, which was Barry Sanders,” ...

Adrian Peterson Says O-Line is in a Bit of a Funk

To be frank, last year was a bit of a fluke for the Vikings. Running for 2000 yards rarely happens in the NFL and has never been done twice by any running back. To assume Peterson would be able to do that again and carry the team was a bit naive. You have to have a consistent quarterback to win in the NFL and right now the Vikings don’t and that is why they are losing. Peterson...

Ray Lewis thinks Adrian Peterson may retire early.

Recently retired Baltimore Ravens linebacker and future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis is making his living as a sports analyst for the NFL these days and he is still managing to stay in the headlines. During Monday’s Vikings v.s. Giants game, Lewis mentioned that current Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson had a similar look in his eyes to Barry Sanders before he called...

Giants beat Vikings for first win

At last. The New York Giants got their first win of the season Monday night by holding Adrian Peterson in check and converting Minnesota mistakes into a 23-7 victory. The Giants began the season with six losses in which they were the team turning over the ball (minus-16 difference) while showing little penchant for playing defense. But against the Vikings (1-5), they were efficient...

Giants look for first win vs struggling Vikings

The New York Giants have a pretty good hunch what to expect from Minnesota with newcomer Josh Freeman taking over at quarterback for the struggling Vikings. Adrian Peterson to the left. A.P. to the right. Peterson more often than not in the nationally televised game on Monday night between two of the league's biggest flops this season. The Giants (0-6) are reasonably sure Freeman...

Giants' defense paves the way to victory

It took seven weeks, but the New York Giants finally were able to pull out their first win of the season against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football. A game that saw the Giants defense shutdown Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and not allowing a single score by the Vikings offense, the Giants defense paved the way to a Big Blue victory.

Rolle, Giants set to 'attack' Adrian Peterson

New York Giants safety Antrel Rolle is backing down from the challenge of stopping Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings powerful rushing attack.

Notebook: A.D. limited in carries, success

The Vikings say they are a run-first offense, but even in the first half, when the Giants led by no more than four points, Minnesota abandoned the run early with Adrian Peterson’s worst average in nearly three years. Plus, Freeman’s bad performances are coming in a record-setting season for QB efficiency, the interception woes continue on defense, and many other statistical notes.

Giants finally win, beat punchless Vikings 23-7

For the first time this season, the New York Giants are going to be able to watch the videotapes of a game and have something to smile about. Winning has its benefits, even after six straight losses to open a season. Eli Manning threw a go-ahead touchdown to Rueben Randle in a rare mistake-free performance and the Giants shut down Adrian Peterson and forced three crucial second...
