The New York Times notes that tomorrow, two players will square off whom have known each other from opposite sides of the field for a long time.  Both Ohio kids, both Big Ten athletes, and both players in the NFL.  Always on opposite sides of the field since they were in high school.  Jets Center Nick Mangold and Redskins Defensive Lineman Barry Cofield. Mangold and Cofield have known each other since they were high school football standouts in Ohio. They attended universities in the Big Ten Conference — Mangold at Ohio State, Cofield at Northwestern — and battled on the field in each of their four years. And now their uncanny on-field connection has reached its sixth N.F.L. season. It’s a pretty cool story to see how they’ve always been competitors, but that they truly respect each other.  Definitely a great read.

The New York Jets' offensive line will have its hands full this weekend at Washington. Hog Heaven Opponent Scouting: the New York Jets

The Redskins actually play a very important game this week.  It's not the Giants, Eagles, or Cowboys who will line up across from them, but the New York Jets that come to town.  The Redskins have not dominated too many NFL teams of late, but the Jets (as well as the Cardinals and Bears) are the exceptions to the rule.  Since the NFL realigned in 2002, just three teams in the...

Pride in a protege

In this weekend’s game, the New York Jets will have a young man coming in to rush the passer on passing downs. His story is so phenomenal that it wouldn’t be a stretch to see it become a best-seller or a movie. I don’t have enough time to write it all, but I have had the honor of knowing Aaron Maybin for a long time and can share a few of my experiences with him. Read full article >>

Fourth Quarter Observations

AP Image Frustration and disappointment were the flavors in the Redskins locker room this evening, as the team knows that they let a golden opportunity slip away. For the offense today, it was the tale of two halves, with 183 yards in the first half, and 121 in the second half.  On defense, it was the tale of three quarters vs. the fourth quarter, with 168 yards and 13 points through...
