Indianapolis Colts superstar quarterback Peyton Manning could begin jogging this week.

Colts president Bill Polian toild SI.com of his franchise player's progress from offseason neck surgery, which may sideline Manning for the entire season. However, the Colts have not ruled out Manning's return later in the campaign.

According to the report, Polian said he and Manning spoke recently about the team's plans for 2012 and beyond. Manning is in the first year of a five-year, $90 million contract and could be released without much cost to the Colts early next year, although that is highly unlikely.

Manning is a four-time NFL MVP whose value to the Colts cannot be questioned. After nine straight trips to the playoffs without Manning missing a game, the Colts are 0-7 without him this season, including an embarrassing 62-7 loss at New Orleans on Sunday night.

The repirt also said that speculation regarding former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel being a candidate to replace current coach Jim Caldwell is "100 percent fiction."

Caldwell is in his third season as Colts coach. He reached the Super Bowl in his first year, Polian told the website he has seen "nothing that indicates Caldwell is not a good head coach."
