Peyton Manning is about to enter a season of Super Bowl expectations behind an offensive line that's full of questions, surgical scars, fresh faces and, yes, promise. Three centers with a combined 18 career starts at the position are vying for the starting job now that J.D. Walton and Dan Koppen are out, and the leading candidate, Manny Ramirez, has none of those starts, although he was Denver's starting right guard for most of last season. ''Manny's played center since 2007. I was in Detroit when they drafted him,'' said Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase. ''He came to Detroit, he was a guard. You know what he was doing? He was working on center in practice. Now, I understand he hasn't done it in a game, but he was the starting guard on a 13-3 team last year, OK? He's been in some big situations, all right? And he's a very intelligent guy.'' Ryan Lilja and Steve Vallos have a little more experience in the middle but ar...

John Fox: Peyton Manning is much further along than he was last season

Last year everyone was wondering how Peyton Manning would play with the Broncos after missing the entire 2011 season as a member of the Colts. Manning ended up having a great season and is much farther along now then he was at this time last year, Broncos head coach John Fox told Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. “Just how much further ahead Peyton is,” said Fox. “A year ago...

Denver Broncos backups: the depth chart

Given the latest events of the last week with the Denver Broncos starting center Dan Koppen getting injured and now with our great potential of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie being somewhat diminished by his high ankle sprain (hopefully he won’t be out more than a month), it would be safe to try and remember that this is a physical game and at any moment Denver’s ideal “all star...

2013 Denver Broncos Fantasy Football Projections

QB Peyton Manning (Denver) It’s possible that the addition of Welker can lead to be even further improved Manning, but I don’t find it that likely that Manning will surpass the arguably 2nd best season of his career (at least in terms of QB rating) in what is his age 37 season. It’s more likely that regression to the mean and normal diminishing physical skills for a 37-year...

After being carted off the practice field with a sprained ankle on Wednesday, Broncos cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is expected to be out for 2-3 weeks, according to the Denver Post. “As I’ve mentioned before, it’s part of the game,”coach John Fox said. “We are going to have even more injuries as we go through camp. It is part of getting ready to play a pretty...

RB competition heating up as Ronnie Hillman becomes frontrunner: ‘The competition heats up when the pads come on’

During OTAs, running back Ronnie Hillman said he wanted to win the starting job in the Broncos backfield. Hillman has fought his way past Montee Ball and Knowshon Moreno to lead the pack so far. Hillman in his second year had trouble keeping his weight up last year and worked on his frame in order to take more punishment and being able to hold his weight over the long NFL season...

Fantasy Football 2013 Late-Round Gems: RB Ronnie Hillman

Somebody has to run the ball for the Broncos right? It’s no secret that Denver’s offense is going to be pass heavy, but they still have to have someone to take the handoffs from Peyton Manning to keep opposing defenses guessing. As far as your draft goes, Hillman could be a sneaky pick-up for your team and here’s why.Last year when Willis McGahee went down with a knee injury...

Denver Broncos 2013 NFL Season Preview

Introduction The Broncos were on an 11-game winning streak last season going into the playoffs, but saw it come to a screeching halt with a home playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens. What happened? You can blame Rahim Moore for one of the most boneheaded defensive plays of the season, but the Broncos also had two special teams touchdowns to help them. From a pure offense vs. defense...
