Manning laughs with reporters. (Screenshot courtesy of NFL.com)

Not everything was serious on Monday when the Broncos kicked off organized team activities.

Quarterback Peyton Manning met with the media yesterday to talk about working with his new teammates and the importance of OTAs following practice.

When rookie quarterback Brock Osweiler became the subject of discussion, things became interesting.

According to the team’s official website, Osweiler measures up at six-foot, seven inches tall — two inches taller than Manning.  One member of the media, 104.3 The Fan‘s Brandon Krisztal felt it necessarily to point this out to Manning.

“Is it weird looking up to a taller quarterback,” asked Krisztal.  ”That doesn’t happen to often, does it?”

“It happens to you all your life,” responded Manning, to roars of laughter.  ”You’re actually right,” Krisztal admitted.

“You set yourself up for that,” laughed Manning before patting Krisztal on the head.  The video, unfortunately non-embeddable, can be viewed on NFL.com.

Peyton Manning jokes about reporter's height

Peyton Manning is a funny guy. And apparently it doesn’t take him long to warm up to strangers. Manning participated in his first set of organized team activities (OTAs for short) and had some jokes for the press afterwards. Manning was asked about the Broncos second round pick, quarterback Brock Osweiler. Osweiler stands 6’7″ and will be groomed as Peyton’s protege....

Peyton Manning gives 'short' answer to reporter's question

Peyton Manning may be wearing a new uniform this season but the Denver Broncos quarterback showed he still has his old sense of humor. Surrounded by a group of reporters after working out, Manning was asked if it "felt weird to look up at a taller quarterback?" Namely Brock Osweiler— a 6-foot-7 player vying for one of the Broncos' backup quarterback spots. Manning...

Thomas, Decker building rapport with Manning

Peyton Manning's two biggest targets are a pair of promising young receivers who have already made their mark in the NFL despite spending lots of time on the sideline. Neither Demaryius Thomas nor Eric Decker has put together a complete season in the NFL - or, for that matter, a full offseason. Both missed much of the lead-up to their rookie year in 2010 with foot injuries....

Breaking down the Manning/Moore playbook

No one does Xs and Os better than the team at SmartFootball.com. This week they break down the surprisingly simple playbook that Peyton Manning and Tom Moore used to destroy opposing defenses for more than a decade: “Being there six years, I helped put in a lot of the information that they use,” Sorgi said. “But sometimes, how much you know doesn’t really matter. It...

Peyton Manning takes to the field, impresses teammates in OTA

It has been over a year since QB Peyton Manning was last on a football field but after he took the field yesterday, it looks to his new teammates that he hasn’t skipped a beat. Denver Broncos News Manning, Broncos coach McCoy a perfect match | NFL.com Peyton Manning has a reputation as a control freak, so the first thing he told his new Denver Broncos coaches when it was time to go to work might surprise you. Realistic expectations for 2012

Before the 2011 campaign began, fans had high expectations despite the late summer news of Peyton Manning's surgery. The Colts were coming off an admittedly disappointing 10-6 2010 season that was riddled with injuries, poor coaching decisions and another first-round playoff ejection. Most expected the Colts to return to their 2009 form and gain another shot at a Lombardi. Looking...

Broncos' restocked secondary gets high marks

Peyton Manning and Champ Bailey are giving the Denver Broncos' restocked secondary two thumbs-up. Replacing retired safety Brian Dawkins in the starting lineup is free agent Mike Adams alongside second-year pro Quinton Carter. And instead of Andre' Goodman playing opposite Champ Bailey at cornerback, it'll be Tracy Porter with fellow free agent Drayton Florence helping...

Miami Dolphins owner pleased with team’s offseason moves

Miami Dolphins owner Steven Ross and general manager Jeff Ireland spent the majority of the team’s offseason feeling the wrath of the Miami Dolphins fan base. Colts Add Depth In Secondary and Return Game, Via Trade With Denver

More Pressure Than Ever Before for Alex Smith

One game erased seven years of mediocrity. One game got him a three year deal. One game made lots of fans forget those seven years, but is that one game enough. Coach Jim Harbaugh is already on record stating Alex is the starter with Kaepernick, Johnson and Tolzien competing to be his backup, nothing wrong with that. Last season Alex showed he can lead the team to the playoffs and...
