It has been over a week now since the Pittsburgh Steelers placed second-year tackle Marcus Gilbert on injured reserve with an ankle injury and head coach Mike Tomlin said at that time that surgery was an option. According to Gilbert on Twitter, that surgery has now taken place and his rehab is presumably now underway. Gilbert injured the tendon in his right ankle way back in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans and was flown to North Carolina to have a specialist look at it.
