A couple of days ago, New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes came out and stated that quarterback Mark Sanchez was rattled when Tim Tebow was acquired in the offseason.
Sanchez went on the radio and told Larry Hardesty of ESPN New York 98.7-FM that Holmes made everything seem more dramatic than it really was.
“I think (Holmes) made it a little more dramatic. When you read it in the paper, it sounds like a Lifetime movie script or something, (like) he’s talking me off the ledge or something like that,” Sanchez told Hardesty per ESPN.com. “Anybody in that situation would have a couple of questions about a trade like that. But as soon as I talked to the team, I really started to understand that (Tebow) is an addition, he’s not changing anything. He’s here to help us.
“I’m the starting quarterback. It’s nice to know that for your confidence, but at the same time, nothing was going to change how I came into the season, mentally and physically. I’ve said it before: Whether it was Peyton Manning or Tim Tebow, it didn’t really matter. I was going to play and I plan on playing well.”
I don’t believe for one minute that Sanchez hasn’t been “rattled” or at least worried about his job to some degree, since Tebow took over for the Broncos when Kyle Orton struggled last season. The same thing could happen in New York this season.

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ: After the Jets' shellacking of Buffalo yesterday 48-28 I was chatting with a friend who covers the Jets for a major media outlet on the way down Rex Ryan's post-game presser. He told me his boss emailed him to make sure he got plenty of Tebow stuff for his game story.Tebow stuff? 5 plays for 11 yards. How do you generate "plenty of Tebow stuff...
The good folks at NOC TV have created a nifty Tebow/Sanchez-themed spin on Maroon 5′s “Payphone”. Check out the below video of a song that you really never want to hear, but the video makes it worth it.
I’m in the end zone watching Tim Tebow
Hoping that someone helps with his aim
Don’t care that Rex is playing Mark Sanchez
Jesus is trying to win some games
Tim Tebow wasn't needed much in this one for the New York Jets.
The NFL's most popular backup quarterback was on the field for just nine plays on offense, including two in the much-hyped wildcat package, as the Jets routed the Buffalo Bills 48-28 on Sunday in the season opener.
Tebow's biggest play came late in the game on special teams, when he recovered an onside...
Hold the press. Delay the papers. Week 1 of New York Jets' football is in the books and Tim Tebow isn't the starting quarterback yet. That title remains in Mark Sanchez's hands, and rightfully so. With three touchdowns, 266 yards, and one interception in the Jets' season opener against the Buffalo Bills, Sanchez can worry a little less about his job security this...
Quarterbacks (A) - If Mark Sanchez is completing 70% of his passes and throwing 3 touchdowns on a regular basis, the Jets are going to be one of the toughest teams to beat in the NFL. Sanchez showed accuracy, poise and a short memory after a first quarter interception. He pushed the football down the field and spread it around to seven different receivers, consistently finding...
Mark Sanchez isn't running from his critics, instead the Jets starting signal-caller is looking to rally his teammates in preparation for Sunday's season opener.
Even with his team's dominating win on opening Sunday in the NFL, Jets signal-caller Mark Sanchez is keeping things in perspective.
While we are happy to say we told you so about the Buffalo Bills being overhyped and the New York Jets remaining the second best team in the AFC East, we certainly can’t say we saw that coming. 48 points? Special teams touchdowns? The Jets looking like a high functioning NFL offense for an entire game? Today was a fun one at MetLife Stadium. Fun, because today demonstrated just...
When ESPN couldn't show Olympic highlights, they did the next logical thing - made Tim Tebow and the Jets their Olympics. And boy, did they go for the gold. Remember those days when SportsCenter transformed into JetsCenter and ESPN slapped the fancy "DEVELOPING STORY" or "BREAKING NEWS" tags on someone sneezing in Cortland? Remember when Sal...
With the 2012 NFL season finally just a couple of days away, Turn On The Jets brings you the very first regular season edition of New York Jets Fact Or False. For the duration of the season, each week’s F or F will be previewing the upcoming Jets game for each particular week. During the bye week, we will have another edition of the ever so popular “Tweeter’s Choice,” where...
The regular season has arrived and we’re days away from the Buffalo Bills kicking off the 2012 season against the New York Jets! With the game on the horizon, here are ten things I Bill-ieve about the Bills Week One match-up.
1. The Bills will cause three turnovers on the New York Jets.
This is just a hunch, but the defensive line is going to cause a lot of havoc week one. I think...

Back in July, New York Jets receiver Santonio Holmes vented his frustrations with the New York media, telling reporters that he didn’t appreciate how writers had been criticizing his team. Holmes, like many athletes, wrongly believes that the local newspapers should serve more as an ego-stroking PR guide than a non-biased source of information. And while the modern era sports columnist...
