There are some experts out there who believe in Mark Sanchez -- namely, his own quarterbacks coach. "I'm generally pleased. He's still developing, but it's hard to ask for patience when you're 4-7, but I think with a young quarterback whose got talent, you've got to be patient," Matt Cavanaugh said, via The Star-Ledger's Mike Vorkunov. It may appear that Sanchez has made too many game-changing mistakes, but Cavanaugh pointed out that isn't the case. "I know he's getting smarter. I know he's making better decisions overall. If he'd have thrown 10 interceptions and we were 7-4, I don't know if we'd be talking about him. It's magnified because we're 4-7 and he's the quarterback," he said. Sanchez received compliments earlier in the week from someone else -- legendary Jets quarterback Joe Namath gave him a vote of confidence. "I believe Mark Sanchez can be a championship quarterback as long as he has the right supporting cast, yes I do," Namath told Newsday's Bob Glauber Tuesday. "He hasn't shown me enough yet to give up on him. To say he can't? Excuse me, he's just finishing his fourth year. Who's to say he can't get better? He sure as hell works hard enough." Namath sympathized with what Sanchez has dealt with this season, including the fumble off his lineman's backside. "I know what he's going through. Every bad play I made was embarrassing and angered me. I went through a lot of stuff and wasn't happy a lot of the time. But Mark's handled it well. He just keeps plugging away," Namath said. Mark Sanchez threw a pick to Arizona’s Patrick Petersen who made a circus catch

The New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals are engaging in a game to see who can score the least amount of points in the most embarrassing way. Mark Sanchez actually threw I decent ball (I couldn’t believe it either) but that wasn’t enough for Arizona’s cornerback Patrick Petersen to snatch it right out of the New York Jets’ wide receivers hands. Petersen, formally of LSU...

Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez was benched in favor of third-stringer Greg McElroy Sunday in New York's 7-6 win over the Cardinals. Rex Ryan finally admitted what the CHFFs tell us: Sanchez sucks.

McElroy ends suffering under Sanchez

All season long, Jets fans have clamored for head coach Rex Ryan to demote quarterback Mark Sanchez, and on Sunday, they finally got their wish -- even if the guy who finally supplanted the struggling fourth-year starter wasn't the replacement they were hoping for. After nearly three quarters of yet another unfortunate showing by Sanchez, Ryan decided that Sanchez's downward...

New York Jets must get Alex Smith

The flash in the NFL pan that’s been the Rex Ryan-era New York Jets was finally doused Thanksgiving night thanks to the New England Patriots. Losing to the dominant division foe from up north is one thing, but losing like the way the J-E-T-S Jets-Jets-Jets did is flat-out embarrassing. The fallout has been spectacular. Fan number one Fireman Ed has resigned, the boos have been...

Mark Sanchez benched for Greg McElroy

Mark Sanchez played so poorly on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals that the New York Jets decided to finally replace him at quarterback. He was activated on gameday Sunday for the first...

Mark Sanchez Benched for Greg McElroy As Jets Beat Cardinals

Rex Ryan finally figured out what everyone else in the world already knew — if you bench Mark Sanchez, the Jets will win. And win they did. No Huddle – New York Jets Quarterback Switch Edition

No game this entire season was as exciting as the 7-6 “thriller” was for us yesterday. The exit of a struggling QB and the entrance of an unblemished one, got us up off of our seat and screaming as if it were the 2009 or 2010 playoff runs all over again. Never mind that we were going hoarse over a few meager third and manageable completions. That came courtesy of a guy who had...

Greg McElroy Replaces Mark Sanchez, Leads Jets To 7-6 Win Over Cardinals
