Ladies and gentlemen, your New York Jets. Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez picked up right where he left off in the team’s first preseason game of the year, throwing an interception to Ziggy Ansah that the Lions’ first-round pick took back for a touchdown. Making matters worse, Sanchez’s pick-six came on the Jets’ fourth offensive play of the game. With Detroit’s Willie Young applying the pressure on first down, Sanchez attempted to dump off a screen pass. He did not see the 6-foot-5, 271-pound Ansah, though, and rifled a pass right into the defensive end’s hands, allowing Ansah to rumble the final 14 yards for the score. With rookie Geno Smith nipping at his heels, these are plays that Sanchez simply cannot afford to make. Check out the pick-six in the video below. VIDEO: Ziggy Ansah intercepts Mark Sanchez for the TD

Lions 5th overall pick Ziggy Ansah made quite the first impression Friday during the preseason opener for Detroit and the New York Jets from Ford Field. During the Jets’ first drive, Ansah intercepted an errant Mark Sanchez pass for a 13 yard touchdown. Now I know it’s only the first preseason game, Asnah’s first NFL game altogether, blah blah blah this is still good sign considering...

Mark Sanchez makes a big mistake to lead off the Jets' preseason

Mark Sanchez may be making progress, but it tonight’s performance was any indication, he’s still prone to making the same type of poor plays that put him on the hot seat to begin with. Mark Sanchez is by no means the worst starting quarterback in football. That distinction likely resides with someone else (Blaine Gabbert gets a lot of nominations for that honor), but Sanchez...

Jets QB Mark Sanchez Throws Pick 6 on First Drive But Bounces Back Well

Oh boy. I am sure that New York Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan was hoping for a nice game from his longtime QB to make the decision process easier, but come on. Did anyone really think it would happen? New York Jets Quarterback Competition Gets Ugly

The New York Jets‘ quarterback competition has been a pretty ugly sight for at least a couple of months now, but it looks even worse after the 26-17 loss to the Detroit Lions in the preseason opener Friday night. In the third quarter, rookie Geno Smith limped off the field after rolling his right ankle in an awkward fall as he scrambled away from pressure.  Despite the initial...

Lions 26, Jets 17

Ziggy Ansah looked like a natural in his exhibition debut, when the rookie defensive end picked off Mark Sanchez's screen pass and took it back for a touchdown. Detroit coach Jim Schwartz wasn't at all surprised. ''I know a lot of people were looking at us sideways when we drafted a guy that didn't have a whole lot of experience,'' Schwartz said after...

NFL Preseason: Four things to watch for New York Jets vs. Detroit Lions

1.) Jets quarterback battle: The No.1 battle fans should be watching from this game tonight is between the Jets quarterbacks. Classic Horror film review: The Creature who wandered into Butt Lagoon

So it’s been close to a year since the already classic “The Creature who wandered into Butt Lagoon” (Which will be henceforth referred to as Butt Lagoon) came out in theaters last thanksgiving. Jets GM wants Geno Smith to beat out Sanchez

Geno Smith has passed his daily quizzes for two weeks playing flag football in training camp but the real exam comes Friday night when he trades in his red non-contact jersey for a green-and-white one. The Jets’ quarterback competition may have technically started months ago when Smith and incumbent Mark Sanchez were frolicking around a New Jersey practice field in shorts but...

Football’s back!  For many NFL fans, having the opportunity to watch their team in action, if it is just a preseason game, is exciting.  But many of us New York Jets fans who are also Time Warner Cable (TWC) customers, are being robbed of that joy because of an ongoing dispute between TWC and CBS.
