In a shocking (shocking I say!) development, Marlin Jackson is out for the season with a ruptured achillies. Jackson was signed as a partial solution to the gaping hole(s) at safety and cornerback. It was unclear what position he was going to end up at. What was clear was that Jackson was coming off major knee surgery and the Colts were worried enough about him that they just let their former 1st rounder walk. The good news out of this is that Nate Allen will probably be the default starter at the safety position opposite Quintin Mikell and that the Eagles will probably look to sign someone off the waiver wire later on in the pre-season. Crazily enough, rookies and selected veterans will report to training camp in just 56 days. We will ramp up the Eagles talk once the NBA Draft is over.
