Found November 26, 2013 on AFC East Daily:
At this time last year, the Buffalo Bills' special teams squad was a force to be reckoned with. A year later, it's just a force waiting for a chance to prove it's still got it. Led by some head-strong runs from cornerback Leodis McKelvin, Buffalo's return game was no joke last season, averaging nearly 19 yards on punts and 28 yards on kickoffs. The team as a whole had three total return touchdowns, including one in prime time during a divisional bout with the Miami Dolphins. What a difference a year can make. Now through 11 games, the Bills have yet to tally a return longer than 26 yards, let alone one for a touchdown. McKelvin's average has dropped to 6.3 yards per attempt, while even veteran return man Jim Leonhard has been only able to muster nine yards a try. "We’re low on the opportunities when you look at it," Bills coach Doug Marrone said Monday, via buffalobills.com. "People have not given us the opportunity to return the ball. People have ...

Stevie Johnson hates losing, but still likes Buffalo

Buffalo Bill wide receiver Stevie Johnson is a disappointed man this season. 2013 brought a brand new head coach in Doug Marrone, and a dynamic rookie QB in E.J. Manuel. Optimism was back again in upstate New York, but as we know that quickly faded, and Stevie just had to vent to someone. That someone was Marrone himself. “It was cool because now he knows where my mind was...

Jon Bon Jovi claims he's is not interested in buying the Bills at this time

Sunday I shared a CBSSpots.com report that claimed that Rockstar Jon Bon Jovi was interested in buying the Bills. Bon Jovi’s publicist is now downplaying reports. Ken Sunshine told the Associated Press that while Bon Jovi is interested in becoming an NFL owner, reports that he is actively pursuing the Bills are “preposterous.” Sunshine also said that the former owner of the...

Bills S Byrd 'open-minded' about future in Buffalo

Bills safety Jairus Byrd has gone from being noncommittal to open-minded in softening his outlook about his future in Buffalo. Though not ready yet to commit to a long-term contract on Tuesday, the two-time Pro Bowl player wasn't ruling out the possibility, either. Byrd is keeping an "open mind" about staying once the two sides are allowed to reopen contract talks...

O.J. Simpson denied new trial

Looks like O.J. Simpson won’t be able to continue his search for the real killers of his ex-wife and Ron Goldman any time soon as a Las Vegas judge has rejected his appeal for a new trial. The Juice claimed that his previous lawyer botched his armed robbery and kidnapping case, and a judge earlier in the year actually considered his story. But Clark County District Judge Linda...

Falcons flexed out of prime-time slot for Week 14

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. Considering the Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers met twice in prime time over the 2010 and 2011 seasons, including once in the playoffs, the NFL's decision to put their Week 14 clash on national TV seemed like a no-brainer. At least back in April. Alas, with the Falcons at 2-9 and the Packers (0-3-1 in their last four games) muddling through during...

Buffalo Bills' Not So Special Teams

So far the 2013 Buffalo Bills special teams unit has been a black eye on an otherwise hopeful year. It’s been more specifically the punt coverage unit that has allowed teams to flip the field position in their favor and leave the Bills in worse starting points. In fact the punting unit could be blamed for one loss in particular against the Cleveland Browns. Though it isn’t just...

Falcons' Ryan looks to end road woes against Bills

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. The football gods spared the Atlanta Falcons in one sense this weekend. The Falcons, who play the majority of their games each season in domed stadiums, will not have to play the Buffalo Bills outdoors on Sunday, with the forecast set for a high of 37 degrees, wind at 11 miles per hour and a 30 percent chance of snow on the shores of Lake Erie. However, they...

Second Take with Brad Gelber – Will the Bills be ‘Living On A Prayer?’

With the Bills on the BYE and the Sabres being terrible the options for topics on this week’s column were a tad bit scarce. Then Sunday morning the story line heavens opened up and delivered a golden cloud of goodness onto my front step... Jon Bon Jovi is interested in buying the Buffalo Bills. Thank you, thank you and thank you. We’ve all known for some time that Ralph...
