Christian Petersen/Getty ImagesAfter playing with the Dallas Cowboys his whole career, tight end Martellus Bennett decided to sign with his rival, the New York Giants, this off-season. Bennett never really excelled like he was supposed to in Dallas and Bennett claims it was due to Tony Romo playing favorites with his offense, according to Newark Star-Ledger.
Bennett now plays with Eli Manning and likes him a lot better than Romo. He was asked what made Manning so unselfish.
“Just his approach. I mean, he’s just looking for the open guy. It doesn’t matter who it is or what number you are. If you’re open, he’s going to hit you. You have to be ready,” Bennett said. “That’s what makes it so fun playing in this offense because anytime you beat your guy, you know you could get the ball. … Every quarterback has one or two guys they go to on most teams. But here, it’s not really like that.”
Bennett is known to run his mouth, though. He didn’t catch a fair share of his passes either in Dallas, but then again, Terrell Owens said this same thing when he left Dallas as Romo favored more towards Jason Witten. With Dez Bryant rising, you could see him getting a lot more passes as well.
We’ll see what happens for Bennett as he heads to a new offense.
