Martellus Bennett spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Cowboys. During that time, he was never really as significant a part of the offense as he would have liked. Tony Romo’s favorite tight end target has always been Jason Witten and most of the other balls have gone to star receivers and cry babies. Bennett, who signed with the Giants during the offseason, took some thinly-veiled shots at Romo earlier this month. At the start of training camp on Thursday morning, he was a lot more candid in talking about his former team.

“I just want to kick those guys’ asses,” Bennett said according to the NY Post. “That’s what it’s all about. We’re cool but we ain’t that cool. I’ve kind of got some ill feelings toward them overall. But it’s a game. Every game is the same where I kind of hate everybody, honestly, in the NFL.

“I have ill feelings toward everybody. It’s not just Dallas. (Shoot), pretty much anybody who doesn’t play with us, I pretty much, I don’t like ‘em. I don’t like a lot of people. I’m kind of (a jerk), but it’s cool.”

Obviously those ill feelings toward Dallas are a bit stronger than the other teams in the league. New York signed Bennett to a one-year, $2.5 million contract back in March. That means it would have cost the Cowboys very little to keep him if they valued his services. Clearly they did not and that seems to have irritated Bennett, who will conveniently get to play his former team in two of the most important games this season. If he wants to show them what they missed out on, he’ll have plenty of opportunities to do so.
